Bring back the boat ride!

I don't see any problems with having to choose between insta-teleport and slower (but cheaper) boat ride, we already have this with the chocobo porters that are insanely cheap and cost you only a minute or five.

they would have to drop the price alot more i would think, why pay 200 gil to wait 15 minutes on an airship or 100 gil to wait 15 minutes on a boat when a personal chocobo can get you there in the same or less time and is free to boot?

Yes, but you might want to do it for the chance of encountering a rare FATE. Alternatively they could also raise the teleport costs (though that's unlikely)

15 minutes is too long, maybe make the boat/airship ride 5 minutes (or less) and the majority of people would tolerate it. As for the fishing aspect, I'm sure they could designate or create some other space for rare fishing opportunities.

Considering the speed of travel teleport and return offer I don't see anything wrong with making the least speedy (with multiple zone changes if you decide to start your journey out of city and 2 cutscenesfor airships) a fully fleshed throwback to ffxi with a long travel and fate.

I love this idea, i also hope they could bring back the pirate attacks while your on the boat, makes things a little more interesting.

I have to admit that the first time I took the boat ride in 1.0 I was totally blown away!!! It was an incredible experience.

I was really sad it wasn't implemented in A Realm Reborn though.

So I agree, perhaps a bit shorter so most of the players can enjoy it, and of course, being an optional trip with FATE encounters would make the 5 min - 10 min boat ride a successful event!

I don't understand why boats and airships exist, they're just instant ports. Airships are the most confusing. They're just there for nostalgia factor really, I want airships and boats back, especially boats, because I want to fish off the side of them.

I think it's a possibility considering the new attitude towards fishing and it being more casual. I could see them making a boat ride, that's closer to a RL theme park ride. Ye know, have it go through a jungle or rapids.

I'm not sure who made the point first but yes, I agree it would be best to make it optional, with the insta-ride being the more expensive of the choices for obvious reasons. And skin-flints like me, get to board a slower vessel, with a coupon
