    Pounce ability/animation

Wow... one of the main reasons I decided to level PUG was simply because I thought I'd be able to run around and surprise jump-attack things with the ability Pounce. I Just unlocked the ability tonight/this morning and... it's a regular punch? Seriously? Even the description says that it's a 'lunge attack' and it doesn't even have range to it... you have to be right next to the mob! I realize that this is mainly my fault for assuming the ability/animation would behave in a manner that the name and description suggest... but man, this is probably the second most disappointing thing I've encountered in this game. The first, of course, being that there is no thf :P

So, I would like to request that Pounce be upgraded to an ability that can be triggered from a reasonable distance with a jumping, lunge attack animation

In the mean time I'll try to muster the resolve to continue leveling this class knowing that there is nothing interesting or new until rank 44 (I've already got Flurry). 10 ranks for blah.. here we go.

They've acknowledged that the attack animations are fairly lackluster and it's probably on their list of things to do. We'll probably see it after the big battle update sometime though.

Considering that pugilist has the shortest range of any class, they really do need a gap closer.
Pounce already has it in the description and has a long enough cool-down for it not to be broken.
Can't believe I hadn't thought of suggesting this the other day when I was thinking about the lack
of gap closers for melee jobs with short range. (i.e. pugilist, gladiator)

I totally thought I would do some quick stance change and lunge at the mob all crazy like........eff my dreams. Same thing with Follow Through. I figured I would be able to Blindside + Follow Through from the front of the mob, making it a back attack with a SA crit. When that wasn't the case I wanted to trade this game in for cash.........towards Madden. I don't think making attack animations is the most crucial thing as of right now but I def wants some variety. Hell a crit on Heavy Strike/Flurry looks cooler than most Pugilist WS imo. How about some effin kick attacks?!?! Do not even get me started on how lame Simian Thrash is!

Blindside does stack with Follow Through from the front.
The only conditional statement for Blindside is that the attack is from the rear. which is the case if Follow Through is executed from the front.

I said that's what I did and it doesn't work. I do not recall any patch notes fixing it so that it would work. In fact, I just tried it again to see if it was patched and it still doesn't cause Follow Through to crit. So I need to know your secret....now!

"Flank an enemy, increasing the power of your next attack from behind."

Hmm. . .I don't see anything there about causing a crit.

When you use Blindside and Heavy/Light it makes all the hits crit. I just tested it on Follow Through with/without Blindside and the dmg is off between the two by a single digit(676-677 on lvl 40 nanny) so as of now it is broken as hell. There was a Forum post on ZAM(I think) talking about how Blindside doesn't stack with WS.

Viridiana if you are using descriptions of an attack to prove what it does you might be in the wrong thread eh? If that isn't the case than welcome to the "Pounce description is a lie" thread

pounce actually has slightly longer range, which doesnt really make since its the same punch you do for every weapon skill.

They really need to change the weapon skills, while you are using a main skill on your class, every weapon skill should be unique looking. Pounce is one of the worst offenders, going as far as calling itself a lunge... it really is lame. I hope they get to work on making weapon skills look unique asap. Its been a problem since launch, people want to see cool new abilities as they get higher level, not the same punch that every skill has again and again.

I have been testing it more today and it makes my Heavy/Light all pop up saying crit, so I am not sure what to say to be honest. Follow Through is the same crap as always though with/without Blindside, I am seeing almost no difference between them. Using other buff spells shows considerable more dmg on a WS but Blindside+FT is showing almost no change.

I guess I will go test it on some other mob types and see if there is a difference. I have been testing it on silly ass goats.
