This maintainance fixes nothing for current players

What exactly is it going to do for full worlds? You can\\'t transfer to a new server. Unless you start again your stuck on a full server. People will just roll alts on these new servers and clog them up cause they can\\'t get on there main server. There must be thousands of wasted characters on the different worlds. Tommorrow = 1017. If I\\'m wrong let me know, but I can\\'t see how this (tonights maintainance as explained by Yoshi) changes my inability to login problems.

We can only hope that SE offers some kind of free migration to fill up the new servers.
Other than that, I know that they mention they will look into an AFK timer in case the new servers doesn't fix the current 1017 issue.

Ok we'll that's some good news if its true. The maintainance notes never mentioned a server cap increase.

Lets understand what the 1017 error is about.

During early access, we did not have any restrictions on logins, yet the server did not crash accepting everyone, the only issue was when people started using the duty finder / instances a lot, which the duty finder server could not handle (instances are located in a separate server as I have understood, hence the server was online while duty finder was not available / failing).

Now, why did they add restrictions exactly? Basically to control how many people could use the duty finder and instances at a time, to be safe they added a hard number lock on the logins, which is why it shows up the 1017 "the world is full" message.

Tomorrow's update will upgrade the duty finder, I am not certain it will fix the duty finder stability, I want to believe it will. But one thing is for sure, tomorrow after the update, people will start getting fewer 1017 errors, since, they'd be lifting little by little the restrictions in order to keep it controlled until it is safe to let everyone in.

The new servers are for people that want to play yet have found most servers full (most of the NA/EU servers are full, not talking of the 1017 error here). They are most likely adding new servers because there's still people pending to create a new character and to avoid them getting on the already full servers, they're enabling more. This if I recall correctly is the second time it happens, from phase 4-early access-release.

Let's hope they know what they are doing, and hope the server is stable after the upgrades.

    Posted in another thread.

We would like to make a clarification regarding our previous announcement “Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)” in which we stated that we are preparing to increase the capacity of our data centers.

The first half of the announcement regarding login and character creation restrictions was directed towards our players who would be playing during peak hours in Japan data center Worlds.

However, the second half of the announcement regarding increasing the capacity of our data centers was meant to also encompass North American and European data center Worlds and not just be limited to Japan data center Worlds.

We deeply apologize for causing concern amongst the North American and European community due to our lack of clarity. Capacity will be increased for data centers in all regions.

Once again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation to help us welcome more players to the game.

Not complaining but i really hope this douse fix the issues we have been having with logging in as spending a couple of hours logging in, just to be kicked out of the server as soon as you zone is a little much to handle XD

Great observation on the Duty Finder part. I think that's their whole plan right now.
To get into further details, as it is right now, there is one server pool for Duty Finder, all servers connect to the same server instance. What they have scheduled for the upcoming maintenance is to set up more Duty Finder servers and split the game servers into multiple pools instead of having a huge one.
Since each separate Duty Finder server will be able to handle about as much as they can now, you can understand that adding more of these will allow SE let more people in on the servers and not crash the Duty Finder server.

Random number examples that might make it easier to understand.
If current DF server can handle 250k people without crashing, they only let 250k people in on all their game servers.
Now if they set up one or two more DF servers that can handle ~200k each. That means they should be able to let a total of ~650k people in on their game servers. But of course, looking into each game server, they have a limit as well but I'm sure it's way higher than what they are limiting them right now to.

Data Center Capacity =/= World Capacity.

They are adding new worlds, which will result in more players than their current duty finder servers can handle. Thus they are splitting the worlds into multiple groups, with their own duty finders.

This doesn't change the fact that the current worlds can only handle ~5000 players concurrently without suffering major stability issues, lag, etc.

So... the full realms stay full. People still can't log into them. New realms are created - people who can't log into their current servers roll alts there. But they aren't playing their mains, or able to play with their friends, or have to start over - because SE hasn't said anything about forcing server splits to distribute their current players to a larger pool of worlds, nor are they offering any free migrations to those new worlds - and the paid character transfer service isn't expected for weeks.
