I'd rather the ability to log in instantly, whenever I want, regardless of how many ppl are afking. But hey, I admit maybe that's too high an expectation for this age, and FFXI was a jewel never to be seen again...Server capacity will not fix this.
They could institute a system where if someone is afk, and someone else wants to get in, the person with the longest afk time will get kicked, maybe with a notification message. Simple. Once the system goes in place, after a while, people will just logout, knowing they can log back in later. And give us a que system, a true one. I dont care if I am in slot 10,000. At least I know that I will get back in the game sometime and I can AFK the login when I know the ques is there and will log me in eventually.
The problem with adding more capacity to servers or even adding additional servers without initiating a kick timer is simply this: more servers with more capacity = more people going afk and worlds remaining full. The problem is not solved in any way. Adding one week of free game time isn't going to make a jot of difference when you spend three weeks not being able to play. I finally got on line last night only to get kicked out due to error in the middle of the duty I finally got queued into. It's frustrating and while understandable for a brand new game, I feel that the powers that be aren't focusing on the proper issues.

yes, Afk kick with Captcha needs to occur, but mostly they need to move players from servers with high congestion to lower.
The problem isn't just AFK - although they might eat up 1K slots.
Lets say each world has 10K slots to play on.
The problem isn't 10K AFK players, or even close to that- estimating 10%/1K afk
The real problem is 25K players made toons on that world, that only has 10K slots. So no matter what, what time, what event - over a "full server" (10K) is WAITING to log in, getting 1017.
Behemoth is one of those servers with "too many players to support" the only way to really fix this - is to move players (forcibly or via volunteer transfer, or simply ignore them and they will quit or move on) because 10K (or the max, whatever it is) are logging in fine -and "playing" - even if it's just AFKing. The "leftovers" are out of luck.
