    Make Combat more interesting, please !

    As of now as a GLD I just spam 1-2-3 button combo; sometimes I throw in a shield bash in between. But that's it ! Every time the same routine !

    The combat is not fun at all especially with the sliding movement of characters & no 'weighted animations' ! Please add more depth to combat besides just button mashing !

    I don't know if this can be done in an online game, but I suggest you add QTE mechanics to this game ! That will make finishing-off monsters & bosses a much more rewarding experience !

    While I appreciate that you're proposing an actual solution to what you feel is an issue (and thank you for it!), I'm not sure I agree with your proposed solution of QTE's. Mostly on the grounds that 1) QTE's are often a single player driven event, meaning the rest of your party just gets to sit and watch and 2) QTE events can be incredibly difficult for some folks who may not have the reaction time to handle them. While I agree this would make combat more exciting, it would make it less accessible. I'm wondering, do you have any other ideas? I do agree that in an MMO, combat can feel a little bland (though I do like the avoidance that FFXIV has so far) so I'd like to see if there are any solid ideas out there as well.

    They should split abilities up so it's actually two types, Spells, and WeaponSkills. Then they should implement Skill Chains and Magic Bursts just like FFXI. Then combat would be fine.

    You're trolling, right? Requests for "weighted animations" were thrown all over the Secret World boards during its release, but no one could explain what they meant by it or how to implement it beyond "make better animations".

    Then there's the request for the button mashing to be replaced with QTE, or, in other words, more button mashing that takes away any and ALL depth that the combat could possibly have by replacing it with a cutscene event.

    Just wait for the God of War MMO. You'll be happier that way. Combat will be 1-2-3-QTE.

    I know it would be difficult to implement QTE for parties, but for single player story mission bosses & mini-bosses, they should definitely look into it.

    For dungeon parties I suggest this feature should be implemented into LIMIT BREAKS !
    Make it so that when a party member hits limit-break, all party members go into a cut-scene like dungeon opening & closing cut-scenes. During this cs, each party member presses the buttons corresponding to those on his respective screen. The net effect is a sequence of animations showing off how each party member deals damage to the boss corresponding to his own abilities/skills.
    I think this could be similar to the Quickenings mechanics of Final Fantasy XII- where if the player triggered a quickening, a separate quickening screen popped up & we had to follow the on-screen button combinations.
    All this while the party is impervious to damage of course.

    I dunno I think it's pretty fun. Once again, a thread from someone who doesn't really know how to max their efficiency. As I GLA I spend a lot of time switching mobs to mark them and keep hate, using MP skill when needed, try to help out the healer with my poor cure potency (seriously, I wish PLD cures weren't nerfed so bad....they don't even have holy succor anymore =( ), shield bashing aoe moves, shield tossing if a mob gets away from me or if I have to move out of an aoe, etc. It's more than just 1-2-3 like so many people seem to claim.

    Sorry but this is an MMO (massively multiplayer online) meaning that in reality the single player doesn't really come into it. The majority of the time you'll be playing with other people and can forget about single player, and believe me you'll be doing a lot more, or should be doing more in the multiplayer side of things.

    You're at a low level, wait till you're higher, plus get some skills from other classes, mainly Marauder/Conjurer since Paladins can take some skills from them. We do have a combo pattern but it's not that boring. If you really want flashy, I do recommend another class.
