Yeah I don't get why they removed the ability to gather Dark Matter. It seems to completely defeat the purpose of using it in the first place. Although now that u can't change mid dungeon to repair anything, it has less use to begin with but still.

Also, I've noticed some other help text that is now incorrect lol.

Repairs are dirt cheap now, I don't even see a need for player repairs any more, just remove it.

It would be nice if there was a Repair NPC at the start of ever dungeon as well, way too often do I remember to repair for a dungeon and once you are inside its too late, no longer can we switch to a crafting class to repair and its not like we can leave the instance to get a repair because we will be kicked from the party.

Since people are up to the hard mode primals on Excalibur, we already have DM 5 at about 99 Gil per, and dropping.

dirt cheap?? what are you repairing lvl 10?? excluding carried over gil , it would be hella expensive. one of my sets is like 4800 to repair, that's 48,000 1.0 gil. sub 45 gear looks cheap when repairing but as you get to the better stuff you see how rediculous it really is , I thought it was a way to get players to work together more in repairing stuff.. but after seeing the pain some have for DM maybe not lol. with way gil is now, imo a full set of good gear should be no more than 2k to repair, and that's for some of the best

Well, this is more a long-term problem. The largest influx of cash at the moment is from people doing the main quest, and the largest outflow is from the constant need for repairs - as a result, the state of affairs at 50 isn't really sustainable in the long-run, and I'd like to think it's especially unbecoming to new players who can't really afford the repairs, nor want to grind gil just to play battle content with friends. Hence, why I'd like to get the opinions of non-Legacy players.

@Zezlar: I think the player price of Dark Matter 5 is misleading on Legacy servers because most people (myself included) are sitting on huge stacks of 99 Dark matters from 1.0. I'd like to know if the Active Help needs to be amended or if the field-acquisition Dark Matter was intended to be implemented, but never made it into release (or if they plan to add it in the future).

Well now that you mention seals, it kind of makes sense to just buy DM with seals and not as big of a deal that they can't be gathered. IMO, seals are extremely easy to get since they come from every FATE, GC Leves, GC hunting log (I think?) and trading in crap dungeon gear (at least at higher lvls?).

See, that would work if it wasn't 2.1k seals for just 5 measly pieces of dark matter. That's 4.2k seals for a full repair, and rather a lot of FATEs, you know? Even doing my entire daily provisioning duties doesn't give that much.

Looking at it a bit closer,

ilvl70 weapon (Morbid Mogblade) Right now it's at 68% and costs 160 gil to repair from vendor.

    160gil / 32 = 5gil
    5 x 100 = 500gil

Assuming every 1% is a static fee, it's roughly 5 gil per 1% or 500 gil to repair it completely from broken assuming that each 1% is 5 gil all the way down to 0 and it doesn't increase and there isn't a penalty if it's completely broken.

With DM5 at 350gil at NPC, it's still cheaper (around 30% cheaper to repair with DM) and will probably get cheaper if you can get it for a discount from players. Looked at an iLvl52 shield and it's roughly the same 5 gil per 1%.
