Why do you play this game ? What makes it speciel ?

My friend talked me into buying this game. Looks like a decent game, yet i fail to see what makes it speciel - i mean. Yeah im confused. I want to get the "addicted" feeling towards a game again. Maybe you can help me answer these questions :

Why do YOU play FFXIV ?

What will you do when you hit level 50 ?

It's got a lovely world with a great story and excellent music to add to the backdrop. Plus it's a Final Fantasy game but online. I think it comes down to if you are a fan of the franchise, the design of the game, it's stories and classes are all crafted to appeal to the establish Final Fantasy fan, the ability to play one of the legendary Final Fantasy classes like Black Mage or Dragoon is something fans of the series have been looking forward to for a long time; the plot stuff 'Warriors of Light' for example, is a classic FF device http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Warriors_of_Light. There is loads I could go into but the 1000 char limit will prevent me giving you anywhere near the kind of detail you're probably looking for.

Q1) Why do YOU play FFXIV ?
A1) I play because I'm a big fan of SQ-EX and Final Fantasy. The battle system is very interesting.

Q2) What makes it speciel ?
A2) The storyline of this game is very interesting. And also, the class & job system is attractive.

Q3) What will you do when you hit level 50
A3) I will change other class. By the way, I will chat with other people, friends, members in FC.

I have never been a fan of Final Fantasy - im not that into the "korean" style (can i call it that?) Im much more into more real and living worlds. (But graphics doesnt matter that much, thats why i still play WoW - because of the gameplay)

Dont know why i play it actually. I have bought every MMORPG the last 5-6 years, trying to find the replacement for ***. Some games have actually been decent, and i could see potentiel in them. Its different with this one however. I still dont see what makes it anything speciel, at all.. Apart from the class/job. Aint that speciel either. Once people will hit 50 after awhile, we will see cookiecutter builds like most other games.

To be honest it doesn't sound like this is the game you're looking for either; Final Fantasy has made its name and fan-base from its stories and that is what a lot of the fans are looking forward to here, that epic Final Fantasy story, heroes chosen by the crystal to defend the world against almost insurmountable evil.

Final Fantasy is Japanese RPG

Final Fantasy games will always be Japanese RPGs above all else - for the most part anyway. It developed such a loyal fanbase for its games because of the strong story element as well as the fantasy world aspect. For me, this is a Final Fantasy game with the added benefit that I get to play it with my friends.

As far as gameplay goes, I don't think this MMO will break any molds except maybe for the multi-classing. If you don't like story and fantasy settings, then unfortunately, this just isn't the right game for you. If you can overlook the things you don't like and just enjoy playing with your friends, then great. I'm sure you will get a bit of enjoyment out of it, at least for the time being until something new comes about.

The Music...The moment i heard Nobuo Uemastsu had a hand in the games Soundtrack I knew i had to get this game. I wasnt disapointed either! Music is amazing feels like a modern take of the Old Final Fantasy games! I wasnt expecting much for the story but I really like FFXIV's (Although the Voice Acting is poor!). I guess i like how Artistic the game is! Music, Character's (Them Judge looking things simlair to XII look insane!) the maps! Its all top notch!

Personally im a huge fan of the art involved and the whole design, its simply poetry.
when I hit level 50 I intend to gather as much decent starting equip as possible and help out new comers as much as I can.

Final Fantasy has always been story driven since day one. Some are more involved than others, but generally they are in-depth. Every MMORPG is as its base, a RPG. Usually RPGs are best described as graphic novel I suppose, or interactive story. They are suppose immerse you into the world, become a part of it. Music is also another key element for me, as some others have post. The music they put out with each game help set the situation and immersion that much more.

It is a little confusing reading your post, saying your into real/living worlds, yet the atmosphere seems way more 'living' in XIV than WoW. Unless you mean just gameplay like WoW itself? If your looking for quick dirty rewarding game styles, I doubt you'll get much further than WoW really (I don't say this in a bad way, they are just different games is all). Also, generally, FF is more social type play. I've seen a ton of people form a community like it was in FFXI pre-aby, which was heavily based on just playing the game for all its content, not to rush or grind gear for the most part, though it did have an extensive 'endgame' gear side, some of which took literally years for some to accomplish.

A big key here is if you don't like previous FF games, more than likely you won't like this one either. While its (sadly) taken some modern MMO roots, it is still a Final Fantasy.
