I saw the ffxiv water... that looks real. The reason I know it does is I live near port towns in mass. The ocean is not rocky really. waves are not huge. Only time a wave is huge is during strong winds. or in rocky coves. The waves I seen look like stuff I see in boston, newbury port, salsbury, hampton. Even ffxi water was really that rocky. And only reason the boats seems to move was it was faster in ffxi, boats in ffxi were "machine powered" where i believe the bosts in ffxiv are wind powered? which moves slower. Trust me when your on a wind power boat in the middle of the ocean it really hard to tell if your moving or not.

Water looks beautiful IMO i hope new areas look just as beautiful if not more beautiful and maybe rivers could have fast currents and waves even near shores.

Trust me, the water in FFXIV doesn't look real, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we have all had experience with seeing water in our lives, so your personal biography doesn't really lend credence to your case.

The water in FFXIV is just a moving tile. They can never have waves (which are three dimensional) as long as they continue to use the same water they are using at present.

Around Limsa they have tides. That's the best they can do. Tides, but no waves.

Here's an FFXIV water video outside of the Black Shroud, just for the people that don't play this game.

And for those that have no depth perception, yes that is a flat texture.

Nah, I wasn't talking about How to implement water. Rather more about The Quality of the water.

They could always update around limsa or totally redo the water (they will have to redo alot of the world when implimenting airships to show whats behind mountains we cant normally see) as for my comment on waves and rivers and stream speeds differing things like that that was meant about new areas

They don't have to redo the world when implementing airships. Game developers are lazy and just put players into an instance with a moving background.
