Rolling Restarts required, Captcha AFK kicker. 1017 solved.

It would solve a lot of the AFK issues of people hogging slots for days on end. Restart the servers every 6 hours and flush the cities of people who are AFK for over 9 hours straight.

Implement an AFK kick in the form of a CAPTCHA so that bots can't defeat it, or macros.

problem with captcha system is what if you are in the heat of the moment where fighting of an instance or boss or something and captcha pops out? LOL, and if you implement it where it pops out after a period of time of no activity then bots will automatically bypass it just by moving around.

Check what the characters current activity is, isn't that hard. Of course it can be made so that it doesn't pop up mid fight. Just check for combat flag.

There are 30 characters on my screen right now AFK surrounding the Aetheryte at Horizon. I guarantee that's the same amount at the Gridania, Ul'dah and LL aetherytes. That's 120 people Error 1017'ing people that want to play.

yep, and add in everywhere else with a big Aether Crystal and boom, 1000 slots taken up by selfish pricks. Easy.

Oddly enough I have not seen nearly that many AFK'ers. Though at prime time server time, I'd be hard pressed that "kicking" afkers is going to solve anything. The problem is the hardware and to think otherwise is silly. I'm not against an AFK timeout like an hour or something, but don't put that annoying captcha nonsense in it.

Also, if you're going to gripe about people ensuring they can play the game that they purchased with their money, you should also be griping about gil sellers and bots as well, those are taking up "precious spots" as well.

If they logged out, and everyone did so, we wouldn't be in this mess. The more they do it the worse it gets. Don't be a part of the problem. It's selfish and ridiculous. Other people paid money to play this as well, are they less deserving of a slot to play because someone else doesn't want to be a decent person?
