As a healer, where should I stand in dungeons?

This question is mostly directed at tanks.
It was easy in FFXI, mostly just stand back with the other casters because it was easy for the tank to voke or flash over distances, and easy for the bard to hit all casters with mage's ballad.
I'm only level 34 whm at the moment and have yet to do a dungeon with a bard or any higher level content.
Do whm's in ffxiv still stand back with the blm's and arn's? Or is it easier for the tank to grab hate back if the whm is closer to them? Do whm's get any enmity reducing armor at some point? Basically, where do the tanks/bards prefer the healers stand?

On the way: Stand where you won't aggro more monsters, won't get hit by monster's skill and where tank can easily see/notice what's gonna happen you.

Boss: depends. It's been like this since ffxi. For example, don't tell me actually you healed in salvaged bosses by standing far from tank.

    -Enmity gear: so far.. none.
-Ballad, I believe now it is an active aura on bard.

I suggest you to be near the ranged damages dealer.
If you aggro a monster and a ranged dps aggro an other too, the 2 ennemies will go in the same spot. It will be easier to the tank to take them back.

But don't be exactly on them because of the area damages (oranges circles on the floor).
If you're in an area damage spell that target someone else, you'll have to move too.

Depends on what the monsters do. Most healers are just flat out scared to stand close, but if the monster doesnt do anything that will hit me or get others hit if it has target aoe attacks, then I will stand very close to the monster.

You just gotta know your monsters. There are even those fights where it is detrimental to stand far.

It just takes time, experience and (yes unfortunately) sometimes dying to learn what is best for your play style and class. Hopefully you party up with friends, linkshell or Company members who are understanding of your plight.

Actually, very frequently in most games, you're a lot safer being close enough to sniff the arm pits of the hour's Big Bad - or, their farts, anyway, since being behind them is much better! Why? Anything that may aggro onto you will just be swept up as soon as the tank uses an AoE. You don't have to worry about avoiding too many offending AoE's - although, those that may be point blank might require you to actually take an action. But it isn't that hard.

Instructional video for those that are not aware of the method to not dying: Taught by master Piccolo himself.

Out of habit from other games, I usually stay near the back away from the fight.

this isnt an old school MMO boss fights are very dynamic so it depends entirely on the boss fight for example: Chimera you wanna be far but close in b4 it does the violet lighting attack.

Stand in the back out of AoE ranges and monsters attack range. One thing I like to do if I do get aggro off one or more of them is run to the tank instead of away from the mobs so the tank can get hate off of me.
