1. Doesn't matter. Numerous ways around not being afk (while actually being afk)
2. Sorry, that is a feature, not a standard. But thank for letting us know how lazy you are.
3. Again, a feature, not a standard.

Your defending of basic missing features in a re launched game in 2013 is odd, your claim in an earlier post to be "intelligent" is also odd as you managed to include an insult in response 2
If you like the game fine, but blindly defending it in every post, regardless of the merits of those posts is rather strange.
People defended 1.0 too, This game is far better, but its not perfect as you seem to suggest, not by a long way.
Here's hoping it is in a few months time

If the anti-afk feature did not serve a purpose and wasn't at least minimally effective at reducing server congestion, why wouldn't every MMO just exclude it? I have never personally played an MMO where there wasn't a form of anti-afk in place. It's obviously there for a reason in those other MMOs. As far as there being ways around the anti-afk feature, that doesn't matter. The only point at which the feature would not be helpful in ANY way, would be if 100% of the population circumvented the anti-afk. The likelyhood of that is nil. You'll have people who will circumvent it, yes, but unless that number is 100% of the people who go afk for any reason, then the feature is helpful.

First week? I've been waiting for FFXIV to get fixed up for almost 3 years lol, 3 years of repair work and countless apologies / letters from the producer and yet they still botch it up. I consider this unsatisfactory. I played FFXI for 10 years and it was great, but I really hoped that a day would eventually come when XIV can exceed it... still waiting for that day...Anyway,I think you get the point.
MMO's are a different product then any video game or other product you buy. It's a very complex product that needs 24/7 support. PAID support. Anyone in this thread bitching about the first week, has either never played an MMO before, or are trolling.
I did not defend them. I said they were not standard as you made claim to. They are features, and as such, may or may not be included on a game by game basis.Your defending of basic missing features in a re launched game in 2013 is odd, your claim in an earlier post to be "intelligent" is also odd as you managed to include an insult in response 2

You just worded your post wrong, I was correcting you. I also mentioned that it didn't matter if the game had an anti afk feature or not. I did not say it was a good or bad feature, just that there are ways around it.
There are benefits for the feature to be sure. It clears server space for someone who is afk for a pre-determined amount of time, that amount being variable from game to game.If the anti-afk feature did not serve a purpose and wasn't at least minimally effective at reducing server congestion, why wouldn't every MMO just exclude it? I have never personally played an MMO where there wasn't a form of anti-afk in place. It's obviously there for a reason in those other MMOs. Currently, most of the customer base are abusing the fact the anti afk feature is not in this game to stay logged in because they fear having to try and relog back on. However, even with an anti-afk feature, the fact remains that with login issues, people are not going to want to log out if they don't have to, so the majority of player would adopt a method to circumvent the afk feature. And it's not like doing that is complicated. Creating a macro to cast cure or jump on yourself every 30 seconds isn't very hard.... Nor putting a small paper weightt on the camera key to keep rotating the camera to keep you from going afk.
The point was the fact that the feature is even being brought up is because of the login issues, and if the game had one, the complaint would change to players getting around it instead of just not having it at all. So it's pointless to even talk about it.

Blizzard was a super immature MMO developer then if we go by this system for the most part... WoW gets 5/6 of these as well on launch. Blizzard dun fucked up back in the day as well.1. Not being prepared for launch after extensive beta testing.
2. Response to launch problems takes longer than a few days.
3. No (real) concessions offered for failure to provide the advertised product.
4. No queues available for an orderly login system even if immediate login is not a possibility.
5. Gold spam is alive and well inside the game. No competent filtering system. Must individually blacklist each one as a player to claim back your chat.
6. Relaunch a game because of failures and broken promises, new game starts with failures and broken promises.
Really Square Enix? This long making game - and this being the SECOND attempt at the same game and you can't get it right?
Maybe this should be the final final fantasy so as to avoid further embarrassment?
And for all the "Dun be so rude, dey be trying real hard!" responders, save your breath. It's perfectly understandable people would want to vent after disappointment and hard earned money wasted.
The only game I can think of aside from this one w/o the anti-afk is EvE. Which is amazing considering it is only one "world". Then again the population of that game is nowhere in neighborhood of ff14 even (despite being a great game =[ )If the anti-afk feature did not serve a purpose and wasn't at least minimally effective at reducing server congestion, why wouldn't every MMO just exclude it? Well, Eve is the only game where other people DO NOT want you to log out so they can kill you.
But I digress.
While SE certainly did not manage this in the most brilliant of ways, if you are unsatisfied with the product you could have just asked for a refund.
If, instead, you like the game (thus giving SE credit for it), just be patient. Getting mad on the forums is completely useless apart for venting your own frustration - and in this case, punching a wall would have the same effect without clogging this forum with useless banter.
