200,000 is the number of people logging (or logged) in at one time, not how much the servers can hold or how many players can play at one time.I read somewhere that the servers hit capacity around 200,000..? This baffled me. How could one of the most recognizable names in the digital gaming industry plan on opening with 200,000 slots available? Have you even been tracking recent news (in the last 10yrs) in the realm of MMO's? Epic failure of 1.0 aside... you are Final Fantasy (SE)! D&D Neverwinter is boasting 2+ million active users. The Elder Scrolls Online has had 3.5 million beta sign ups. WoW has 7.7 million subscribers. Aion has 2.2 million active users. These games have had PCU's (Peak Concurrent User) of 500k-1.5m (1.5m for Fantasy Westward Journey, you remember them right?!?). And you planned for 200,000..?!? Mediocre games are averaging 300k-600k active users with peaks around 60k-80k simultaneous connections.
Reading between the lines based on the current log in problems, yeah that pretty much is the max capacity of all servers combined at the moment.
Players logging in or being logged in at the same time is the same as capacity. The entire system needs to be brought down and changed... Something they should have done immediately instead of letting it go on for week

They didn't expect that many concurrent players, because they based their estimates of what to expect on the playerbase of XI and XIV 1.0... 1.0 actually had significantly less capacity than this (like half), and never crashed from being full except during MAJOR events such as the very end of the game.
This is everything I've been saying for the past week.
At least they'll still have as many blind fanboy's to follow them into the next hole. Valid criticisms are valid for a reason, you show your emotional investment into the game by down playing others problems.
