I think at the end of the day all of the classes need each other, especially healers considering the wait time for potions lol. I just wish people would help defend the healers a bit more when they are being jumped.

I just laugh when this happens to me XD. I usually am the tank by the time the dungeon is over :P, although I have grouped with some good tanks recently the tanks I've grouped with have only been good at tanking one monster at a time.
The duty finder doesnt register the arcanists as a healer....even though while I was leveling I did nothing BUT heal as an arcanist....Yeah I got some real winners with duty finder. Glad I finally unlocked scholar! /flex

I'm leveling up a thm, but got tired of waiting for queues to pop so I'm going through instances on my cnj. I find dungeons more fun as a healer since I have to watch what everyone is doing, not stand in the fire, and pay attention to bars. On my thm, I just target something and nuke, sleep adds.
But one of the biggest things I've noticed in healing is other classes not fully knowing their abilities. Use your CC abilities DPSers. Stun/bind/sleep that add instead of just nuking and you will make less work for your healer. And guess what, when we aren't spam healing the tank, we have time to heal you too!
For example, I had a run earlier today where the thm wasn't sleeping adds and everyone was taking damage due to not targeting the same mob. But after suggesting that the thm sleep adds, the rest of the run went much, much smoother.

As a level 31 conj/white mage I have only been in one solid group, where I was able to use all my abilities, tank would mark targets before agro, I in turn would sleep adds 2-3 etc and then heal tank, dps followed suit and that was the smoothest dungeon I have been in yet. Then I had the pleasure of being in a group today where the tank would agro everything in line of sight, and more. I would try and sleep excess adds but the dps would split and each one was targeting their own add. I just hope people pick up on the game as quick as some of us did, this game is all about strategy.

personally i always position myself near the healers on dungeon runs so its easier to defend them if see scarey mobs coming to eat the poor little things XD

I live for healing in MMOs - it's all I've mostly done for years. There is a certain feeling of satisfaction knowing you are part of why everyone else is still alive (along with the tank, of course). Plenty of times have I encountered rude people, and it can really be disheartening, but I still keep at it. Most people do appreciate their healers! Just keep that in mind. It's not often said, but I believe a lot of people are grateful for the people willing to play them. I've wanted to play DD a few times, but the amount of "We need you," I get from friends and others is enough to keep me around. I really enjoy feeling useful.
There will always be a level of elitism in MMOs, unfortunately. The grind to be "the best" is why they are addicting to some. But that is usually the smaller % of players from my experience. So if someone is rude to you, don't feel too bad. I try to imagine they had a bad day and are just upset.

I've been a healer for 15+ years. I've been told how terrible I am by every DPS ever.
q: "why didn't you heal me?"
a:
- tank needed heals more
- you were standing in (fire, poison, gas, explosion ect)
- You ran out of LoS, your problem
- Did you even use a pot/bandage/cooldown to save yourself, probably not
- did you follow the fight mechanics? Probably not because you were 1 shot
- I had to choose between you and the other DPS guy, I like him more than you.
I'm not perfect, I try to be, but healing isn't a set rotation for optimum performance on a single target. healing is more of an art.. one that can guess the future damage and hope to get it right, or atleast correct for it before someone eats dirt. We'd like to see everyone survive, but if they die.. oh well.
Tanks get the same BS, just a different pile, and people wonder why tanks and heals are scarce. We put up with 100 times the crap the DPS does.
i was certainly thinking just that today ! those people always blamming healers and tank .No wonder we are hard to get !! lol
