Good to know. I'll keep that in mind as an ARC myself.

I can understand the hesitation some people have regarding Tanking and Healing roles. I have been a healer over the course of many mmo's to the point that I just love the mechanic of it. I really wanted to play PLD in FFXIV to mix things up, but I got too worried about being a liability to my party due to my limited tanking experience. That caused me to revert back to what I know, healing, so I went WHM.
Tanking is a leadership role in many aspects and I think Tanks get threat generated from both npc and players alike faster than the healer does. I constantly see chats with people trashing bad tanks, I have rarely seen the same rants on the healers of this game.
I still plan to pursue PLD at some point down the road and deal with the growing pains I'll more than likely have lol

That's because there is just an abundance of awful tanks in the game. Personally I love healing, problem is people enjoy seeing big numbers instead of being useful.I can understand the hesitation some people have regarding Tanking and Healing roles. You can easily substitute "tanks" with "healers" (or DD/DPS) and it would be equally true. I bring my own healer most of the time because there are some real winners in duty finder. That said, I just accept it as growing pains the few time I do queue. Maybe you should too.

heres a suggestion, im maining a BLM, though ive never dpsed once in an instance, only healed on my conj, granted im lvl 34 on my blm and 28 on my conj, its made my life a joy being able to switch out like that, yes i prefar to dps, but i can do that when im 50 for blm and wtm, why cant you?, dont get me wrong, i dont find healing fun, but im being efficient about it

I saw ppl asking for healers all the time so I started one and find it kinda fun. I can see why pple have issues with it cause you get a lot of crappy comments if things don't work out.
I'm just concentrating on the tank, and hopefully he does his job. Sometimes I need to heal others but not a lot so far. Aggro management seems to be an issue sometimes but not sure if it's the tank, lag or whatever.
Some archers for examples loves to pull mobs before the tank even comes close and stuff like that makes me mad. If they don't listen when I tell them to stop I just let them die a few times so I get their attention.
A lot of issues can be solved by just communicating and trying to help each other out but in this game (like many others these days) a lot of ppl don't communicate at all, you just kinda have to hope they're actually reading the chat.
A ready check feature would be nice (or do we have one?).
Reason being is that healers usually get treated like trash and usually get blamed for. Which is very annoying because most of the mmos I played, just the tanks are reckless keep attacking without the bother to attempt to dodge or block attacks or I have to chase after them if theyre out site,if they die. Then healers get blamed for it....They eat my mana =.=
maybe I just get teamed up with idiots.
As a recent tank, I would like to defend myself here, as I am constantly called out on being too careful. On the other hand, it is usually me in the back of the group, since the DPS just want to run in and AoE all the mobs without a care in the world. I would like to point this fact out: If your tank is behind you, don't run at the enemies! There is a good reason some of us go slower, mostly cause we try to keep the group all together/alive. Also, I <3 my healers!Reason being is that healers usually get treated like trash and usually get blamed for. Sorry I didn't mean all tanks :3 Just reckless and brainless tanks that aren't thinking of what they're doing while they let their HP eat away so does my mana even with pots. Just the fact that I have other party members that I want to look out for as well not just 1 person ^.^As a recent tank, I would like to defend myself here, as I am constantly called out on being too careful. The problem with the chat system is that if you are playing on a Console (like quite a lot of us) it's largely useless, in the time it takes to type out 'Ready' on a virtual keyboard the first pull has probably already been and gone. Built in VOIP would have been the sensible option, we know it can work because the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer had it and it was pretty good.
