Fed up of the need of Healers!

Apologies for the cross post but this was my explanation from another thread:

The reason most people don't want to play a Tank or Healer is down to the community, same problem I had with WOW, EQ and a few others. The Tank & Healer are just as essential as the DPs for getting through a dungeon, however the moment something goes wrong the tendency is to blame the Tank or the Healer for not doing their job properly. That discourages people from playing that class and leads to a shortage of people to fulfill the role, very quickly those people who do stick it out are scooped up by guilds and stop doing PuG runs. Which means that the general ability to get into dungeons for low level PCs drops. The only way to fix it is for the community as a whole to change and we all know that's about as likely as a completely bug free release.

Well if everyone would stop being retarted and going "Hurrr durr i wan be r deeps" and actually play a diffrent class like a healer, we'd not have these issues. The game doesn't need more dps classes we have enough people playing them.

Not everyone wants to play healers or tanks, as I said above the tanking and healing classes tend to be the ones that cop all the abuse when things go wrong and until that changes it's a massive reason to not play either. Even allowing for that some people just don't find the mechanics of playing either to be a rewarding experience. Personally I chose Thaumaturge because my inner Final Fantasy fanboy wants to play a Black Mage. But I might also create an alt who is tank or healer, although from a stylistic point of view I prefer the look of the Dragoon. Ultimately you can't force people to tank or heal but you can try to make the environment a bit better for those who do choose it and hope they in turn will encourage others to try it out.

Yup, Uber is just about 100% correct!! I have played healer in other MMO's and it really sucks sometimes when people get on you for things that you have no control over. So this time, I chose dps, lancer to be exact. I too, feel the pain of trying to do instances with waiting for a healer or tank, and have seriously considered leveling up a healer. Mine is at lvl 11 at the moment. I have also considered leveling a tank, something which I have never played before.

With all that said, I am truly a healer at heart but, like Uber said, getting yelled at for doing your job as best or as fast as allowed SUCKS!!!

When a tank makes one mistake or even slight miscalculation: DDs rage about how terrible you are.
When an healer makes one mistake or slight miscalculation (usual caused by a DD's mistake): DDs rage about how terrible you are.

When a DD makes over 30 mistakes: the tank and healer better not even comment on it or the DDs will rage about how tanks and healers are nothing but elitist terrible bullies.

you have a lot of options:

1. find a LS/FC and ask for help. this game made is easy to help people, and they will
2. ask people personally
3. shout for help
4. just wait
5. level a healer urself

the lack of healer is just a matter of probability. pre-30, only 1 out of 8 classes can heal. post 30, only 2 out of 9 jobs can heal. of course there are lesser of them, ot to mention dps classes look 'cooler', and attract more players.

this is not the problem of the game, this is the design, and it working as intended. it is part of the community's interaction. if you cant tolerate the wait (which is prevalent in all mmo games) then you have to stick to single player games

Yes. I nearly quit being healer, myself. During Garuda, a bard was standing next to a rock the entire time. Kept moving out of my line of sight, so I would have to chase them down, cure 2, cure 2 the tank twice, cure 2 the dragoon. Regen everyone. Then the bard would move again after taking more damage.

And I was blamed. "Newb whm. How did you get to this level? You suck. Everyone went without cures for 8 whole seconds. Learn to play. F*****g newb."

Did it the next day after a FC mate told me to not give up. We wiped a few times, most of which was cause someone went out of my line of sight. But eventually we got it.

No line of sight. Need to be spread out, but not spread out hiding behind the rocks that are furthest away from me, that will also later provide protection for everyone.
