Types of Shields

Generally the smaller ones have lower defense and block less damage, but have a higher wield rate, i.e. one 'Guard' action keeps the shield up for longer. There are also shields in the middle, as seen in the examples below:

• Bladed Lantern Shield
  lowest defense/blocking, highest wield rate
  
• Decorated Iron Scutum
  highest defense/blocking, lowest wield rate
  
• Vintage Kite Shield
  in the middle, but closer to the scutum
