Help Understanding Quest Rewards

Does the eyepatch say you need to be a Disciple of War to wear it? As an Arcanist, I'm pretty sure you can't wear equipment with that label on it.

Just to clarify a bit more, quests will often give you more than one Equipment choice and a lot of times you can only wear one of them in your current class. Unless you plan on multi-classing as a non-mage class somewhere down the line, I would only accept the equipment that pertains more to being a mage - in this case, you should have chosen the witches' hat.

Edit: Oops, sorry, I just noticed you said Archer. You should be able to wear it as an archer; did you try to wear it as an Arcanist? Your bio on the forums says this is your current class.

Green cross - suitable for the current class but higher leve that your current
Red cross - not suitable for the current class
Color spot - indicate the actual color of the item which might differ from color shown on the item's icon (lets say white hat with red spot will indeed be red when equipped).

Each item has the class(es) or group of class specified in the item description for which it is usable so you can see that before picking it up as reward or purchasing. The material it's made of is irelevant to this. If the item doesn't list Archer or DoW group that it can't be used by your Archer character.
