    Hitting a major roadblock

So far i've been having fun (whenever i was able to log in).
Now it seems i reached a major roadblock. I like to play a damage dealer. Just because i suck at healing and tanking, thats it.
The storyline quest makes it mandatory that you run several dungeons in a row at around level 16. And that is where it gets impossible to proceed. Using the duty finder i spent 6 hours waiting for my first dungeon cause there is simply not enough tanks and heals. When i was done i was really happy cause i thought i can now proceed with the storyline. Well...no. The very next quest is a dungeon run again. But i dont wanna spend another x hours waiting. I dont blame the people that dont wanna play healers or tanks.

I used public channels to ask for groups. again...and again. Im sure i got reported for spamming.

Still havent done the second dungeon. I was told that the next thing you do after that is a third dungeon. If thats true, my time with this game is over before it began.

Well that's the breaks, like anything the more you practice at it the better you get. DD overpopulation is not going anywhere and neither is the quests, so either suck it up and wait, make some friends, or practice heals/tanks.

I doubt you suck as much as you just want to pew pew pew like the majority.

As you know, because DD is so easy,it's natural all the lazy and bad players gravitate towards it in addition to it having less responsibility.

    Better up your game then, learn to understand how things work, cause its only going to tougher for you. The beginning dungeons can be gotten by on doing whatever, but later on {even as DPS} you gotta start moving with precision direction upon split-second reactions, know where to stand, move to an what to do at all times! {example: changing target to teammates to break them free of bubbles/rock all the while keep track of switching back to said multiple enemies and keeping the DPS incoming!}

And when the boom booms go boom, you'll certainly need to learn how to read the UI, know that you're in proximity with your teammates to send heal/receive heals, and watch the patterns to avoid attacks, etc etc etc...

There are many LS sites out there...you should get in with one and then you should have lots of people to talk to and ask.

Oh believe me, im playing mmos since everquest 1. i AM bad at healing and tanking. I never know who stands where, i always tab to the wrong opponent, i always heal the wrong guy. Especially with a game with graphic effects as intense as this one, where everything just goes boom boom and explosions everywhere and you cant see shit. Healing in this game is easy as cake, this game so far, is easy for the first...you know 5 dungeons.
Not sure about Titan and others. I use PS3 and I do pretty well.

Using the duty finder I spent 6 hours waiting for my first dungeon
I find it very difficult to believe that it really took that long to get a group in the duty finder.... I personally spent about 40 minutes in the Duty Finder for each of the first 3 dungeons with my THM. I'm not saying it's good to wait 40 minutes, necessarily, but 6 hours is a major exaggeration of the point.

In some servers it might not be an exaggeration. Mine for example, people in my LS have gotten like 2 hours average for duty finders as DD (mostly because queueing as [E] in a [J] cluster). There's also peak and off-peak hours where people simply doesn't play.

Having said that, I do play tank so I'm not sure if I can relate (all my queues are instant), but just try to get into an LS or befriend a tank and/or healer. I personally prefer being partied with someone from my own server before resorting to the dungeon finder, which is probably another reason why there are so few tanks or healers queuing (they already got a full party). Or if you feel adventurous, tag the other languages on your duty finder to increase your chances of simply getting past that roadblock - those dungeons aren't that hard that you need to say anything. There will still be more dungeons down the road, though...

The low level dungeons have longer queues because se closed their servers no new players are trying to access dungeons and those with level 50s are only grinding fates for their new char since they already finished the dungeon quests. Sucks to be a newbie in ARR. You dont have much people to run dungeons with

10,000 players decide to play ffxiv
    1,000 chose healer class
    1,000 chose tank class
    8,000 choose dd class
that means 4000 dd class aren't going to get their dungeons done unless they are willing to swap jobs.
That's just the reality of it when the distribution isn't balanced.

Roll a healer or a tank you will get a party every time within 1-5 minutes guaranteed.
That shows just how many people queue up as DD
