I hate to reference a different MMORPG in my posts, but there is a recent MMORPG that came out with a similar system that I am very familiar with. I played Forsaken World through Closed Beta into Open Beta (PWE games never surpass OB as they stay in OB for years until they shutdown.)
In FW there is a cross-world party system for dungeons and you'll often find that seriously stupid nubs (NUBS! SERIOUSLY STUPID NUBS!!!!!) will sign up for a dungeon and then after they enter inform everyone that the armor and food and potions and brains are in their Bank (retainer).
We also found nubs that would join in, do their part in the dungeon, and run off with the armor that the rest of the party wanted for one specific player in the party.
Oh my god, can't forget the guy that gets into a party wipe 5 minutes into the dungeon and then starts screaming, "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!" I hate that guy...
Then there were the nubs that would join in during the dungeon and then after it's going on and we start having fun, they start screwing everything up. They flick that switch under their computer desks and turn into the stupidest 9 year old (no offense to intelligent 9 year olds) that you'll ever play a game with. Running into mobs, luring mobs to everyone's death. Dieing and starting back at the beginning of the map or not healing the group because they would rather fight than cure...
There are so many situations where I've seen parties crash and burn to the ground like the Hindenburg zeppelin because of the cross world group finders for dungeons.
While yes, I must acknowledge that a cross-world group finder will help with finding parties for dungeons and make new friends and help to acquire new items in the game, there are also massive downsides that must be considered. In my opinion, the downsides outweigh the positives.
I would rather see a single NPC or NPC area where people can meet up and start a group, then run/teleport to a dungeon together. This would allow players to meet their party members before embarking on a dangerous adventure.
I would rather see people shouting for a party/members or with linkshell members and entering dungeons with friends as opposed to complete strangers.
