    Question regarding blacklisting . . .

If I have added someone onto my blacklist, are they also blocked from following me here on the Lodestone if they are currently 'following' me?

    Hey there SkyBear!

The thread was moved over from In-Game Bugs over to General Discussion. It is more related to game information than an actual bug. I'm sure you'll find out that information soon enough with the help of others.

I would guess no. Right now the lodestone is pretty public. They do need to implement a system that lets opt out of letting your characters be displayed.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I think the Lodestone forums and these forums are completely seperated. As far as I can tell, there is nothing that is really linking the Lodestone information and the information on this site to you individual account. You can add a signature that shows your Lodestone information though. I have seen many posts about ideas to incorporate the two in various ways. I think this is the best thinking.

Still, if a player choses they should have the ability to opt out of allowing people to see their character, their history, and their player information.

I absolutely agree. Maybe if enough other players agree they will make it happen.

This is pretty much the case here. Even if you're not logged into the Lodestone or don't have an account, the information is still visible.

Why is it that no matter where I post, the etiquette police are always the first to respond? I apologize for not posting this where you deem it appropriate. I have other problems and that isn't one of them. I consider it to be a bug because why isn't the option there in the first place? I thought I did something wrong or something wasn't working right . . . I think it would be more appropriate, seeing that there are moderators and admins who can do this sort of thing, to have been told in private rather than told publicly yer a toolbox for mis-posting.

    Makes me paranoid.

    regardless . . .

The only point I'm trying to get across is that I'm blacklisting a user for minor harassment. Be it personal or not, why would I still want particular users to have access to some of my information only to make a situation I would rather avoid worse rather then jumping through all these hoops to get it done right? Just seems a little pertinent in regards to the subject matter; why else have blacklisting if not for harassment or general distaste with whatever gaming experience you are currently being subject to? I do not appreciate logging on and being harassed only to log off and to be harassed even more. Most forums I've seen have this sort of option, to block other users, then again, I'm not the master of the internet, so I might be wrong.

Personally, I am not the type to go above and beyond my own mental faculties just to get someone in 'trouble' or given a slap on the wrist. I play to relax, be casual, have a good time, escapism at it's finest and most innocent; not like others who make it their goal to show their general contempt for new user's ignorance or those who take themselves too seriously. I want advice, not to be belittled by unnecessary banter in and out of the game. I can take care of my self with clever word-smithing, I have a backbone, but people have their limits.

I know my options, I'd just rather take care of it myself with a simple click or two . . . instead of let's say, creating a whole new character on a different server and starting over, or like I said, jumping through hoops when I really just want to quest.

I apologize in advance if I have skipped over something important but as far as I know, whoever they are, they can still see everything I'm doing and it's not cool with me. Whomever it may be, they are probably reading this right now, but I know this . . . man.

By "etiquette police," do you mean the moderators? The mod moved your post to the appropriate forum so you could more quickly get an answer.

It's not a matter of etiquette. They were trying to help you.

Again, I pointed that out already. I understand they were trying to help me. If I wanted to go through every single forum page to find my answer, I wouldn't have posted the thread in the first place. I couldn't find the answer to my questions elsewhere. Maybe I just need to realize it's a problem I personally have with forums in general; I can eat that mistake just as effortlessly as people can give me a straight answer. Can't you at least recognize what I'm really trying to communicate here? Instead of, like I keep pointing out, getting extremely technical and looking passed the actual issue I've brought up; I'm not trying to make enemies here. That's actually the exact problem I'm trying to avoid right now, the typical troller with nothing better to do than hassle me.

I apologize, YET AGAIN, for all the rhetoric, twas merely a critical observation I've noticed; just look passed it and answer my question or don't respond; don't delegate the issue towards someone else or point out more of my idiosyncrasies. I'm doing it right now, I know, but I'm not the one who tipped that domino.

If you were shopping in a store and everyone who worked there was giving you the run around, wouldn't you be a little upset and want to point it out? If at least to better communicate with said associates? Turning a negative into a positive? Correct the situation? That's all I've been trying to do to no avail.

I've come to the conclusion I'm wasting everyone's time and my own. This person is making my gaming experience troublesome. These threads are stressing me out, I came here for answers and it's become more difficult for me to reach the end of this. I'm a casual gamer being attacked by a group of hardcore gamers whom have made it quite clear, OVER and OVER again, that I don't know what I'm doing. I come to the forums seeking advice and it's the same bs. I'm not having any more fun; and I'm pretty sure SquareEnix doesn't want anyone to feel that way. I don't want to feel that way.

Xophious, I wasn't trying to single you out in any way, shape, or form. I observe and I react, simple as that. If there was a twelve pack in my fridge, there'd be six for you and six for me. Cool beans.

But yeah, from now on I'm holding off on all the rhetoric. I feel like a tool now. Which seems to be the running gag with my FFXIV experiences as of late.
