I'd have to disagree with your opinion on hotbars for the moment, as I've found them pretty okay. But when it comes to targeting, the fact that pets actually count as actual monsters under the monster filter is extremely annoying. I have no reason whatsoever to be targeting an Egi, unless it's a 'last resort' type of thing.

R2+R1(tap R1 while holding R2) for easy targeting. It puts priority to monsters and avoids everything else.
