Great idea!

Oh, this is exactly what I was looking for earlier when I posted.
I agree. Some sort of population descriptor with the server would be helpful.![]()
Agreed. Hope this is implemented.

Signed! So much yes! This will greatly help control the population of servers. If people see a server is ready to bust but isn't quite there, they'll often opt for a lower populated server (unless they have friends waiting). Instead of leaving us in the dark and having SE just randomly shut off the ability to create new characters on a server, which can really ruin the game if a friend is just a little to late.
This is a feature in WoW and it greatly affected my choice when picking a server. (not saying I want a WoW clone, just that it is something that is proven to work)

This will be useful, even after the existing problems are resolved.
Genius. Sign me up. This would definitely alleviate my low level of patience....now we just gotta figure out how to talk to SE.This is a topic that keeps coming up and I figured it would be a good idea to start a petition to officially ask for this.
I think it would be a very good idea to have the server population density displayed along with the server name.
Something as simple as (Low, Medium, High, Very High) would be very useful for players trying to decide which server to be on and would hopefully help to prevent more server overpopulation problems, since without the information players are just forced to guess and hope that the server they choose isn't full up.
(Please note that this is a petition for a much requested feature and is not a "bitching" thread. I appreciate everyone's support and comments on the topic, but let's please keep the replies polite and respectful. Thank you.)

Signed.
Though I bet they only implement this feature on JP servers.....
This feature should have been present since Day 1. /signed
