Is this what you were talking about?
Its on the left of your screen

Red Square means yours and locked to you with no imminent danger

    Red shield means watch it

Orange shield means lost, but close to recover

Yellow means the mob is on the fence between you and his new target

Green means you've engage the mob, but are not a threat at all

That menu of the left also shows you if adds are in play.

You'll be on a boss, Red Square on his name.

All of a sudden 3 more names show up in that box but you can't see anything. It lets you know new enemies have entered the field and are engaged to your party

I do the same as most of what you are describing as my war. I tomahawk the first mob marking it, then when things get clustered I overpower twice.
I will do standard rotations on the main target, and as long as I rotate another overpower every other cycle, threat seems to stay in place.

On the party UI, next to each of your party mates' names there is a small bar that shows current threat. Whoever has the full bar has aggro.

Marking becomes less important when DPS understand the tank's strategy.

For 3 mobs, often there is 1 strong and 2 weak. Most tanks prioritize weak to strong, occasionally prioritizing strong if it's significantly more dangerous or annoying. If the tank engages one 1 weak mob, kill that one. Then move to the next weak, then to the strong. If instead the tank engages the strong, kill that one, then work through the weak ones. 3 mob groups are routine.

I also start with the weak mob on the right and move left. This makes it easier for people to know what to expect.

For big fights with adds, I mark a target if it gets confusing, but the basic rules of assisting the tank, working weakest to strongest, and right to left is often good enough.

If there's confusion, ask the tank about their strategy.

I especially love pugilists and lancers that enjoy tanking, since their dps plummets without mobs' back/flank. Have fun with your mobs boys!

    Here's what I do
Run in mark main target shield lob
It seems flash goes off where you use it as your running. So I flash when everything is running by me (if you have to just stop for a sec) I'll use it two or three times depending.
Do a full rotation on the main mob. Hit it with your first combo strike (I forget the names sorry I'm at work). Tab to the second marked and use your enmity combo. Tab to the third mob and use rage of halon go back to first mob do another rotation and just keep throwing on them hate generators. There's no use for flashing past the initial pull unless its 4 mobs or more. I've had no problems and never cc. But I haven't done quarn yet but besides one bad healer and my broken pants I've had no problems breezing through bray in under 40mins. (My irl bard friend is a beast dd though)

Tanking is very gear dependant. I have had a few tanks with a scant 10-20 points of HP higher than me. Every chest we opened I silently rooted for a new chest plate for the tank.

I am currently working on a level 17 glad, and I will say this it is harder than it looks.
I finished satasha last night and am now ready for tam-tam. Some classes do such awesome burst damage >>archers<< that they can pull any mob simply by attacking it.

Your suggestions on focus and marking are good ones. I haven't given up on my now 32 whm, just seeing how the game plays from another perspective.

    Thanks Tanks!

There's 2 aggro bars and both of them are useful as a tank. I'm surprised the current target aggro bar hasn't been mentioned here because it's the most accurate and very useful on the main target.

    Current target aggro bar:

As you can see in the yellow-highlighted area of the screenshot, there is a bar next to yours and your party-members HP bars. This is a scaled indicator (0-100%) on how much enmity you and your party members have towards your current target.

    Group of enemies aggro bar:

Red Circle/Square (flashing) = 100% enmity (you are being attacked)
    Orange Circle/Square = 75-99% (be really careful)
Orange Triangle = 50-74% enmity (be careful)
Yellow Triangle = 25-49% enmity (not much to worry about)
Green Circle = 0-24% enmity (nothing to worry about)

What should I do in this situation? Spam flash and basically do no damage? Run back and forth between both of them and pray half my enmity generation is sufficient to keep hate? Or just keep being an ornery bastard who declares if they want to tank so bad, then let them?
Bad DPS is bad. Some of us are good DPSers though. We know how tanks work and even healers. We watch the aggro indicators so we don't steal it. We do sometimes go nab a stray add or something a bad DPSer grabbed and bring it back to the tank.

Tank for us. The good DPSers.
