Not receiving enough xp??

So I don't know if any other glads or pallys have this...issue..with fates. But my friend as a black mage runs around Coerthas as a lvl 33-34 getting 15-20k per fate. But when I do it I only receive like 7-8k per fate. Is there a reason for that like, I'm not contributing enough damage or something or...I just don't get how I'm getting half the xp he's getting when I'm doing the same thing.

I'm not sure, but it does seem like the amount you contribute to, will lead to more xp.

I get maximum 10k, and that's if i'm lucky.

I did several in that level range even tho I was only 31 last night while grinding the main storyline and was getting 10k+

I have LVL 34 pally , I have top end gear for my level and I still cant manage to get anywhere near my friends in Xp from fates. I've tanked a "one fate monster" eg: "Cancer" The large crab in costa (30 minute fate ) from start to finish and have received 11k Xp where as DPS who have been there the same time period received upward of 22K. As a tank , tanking the mob there is really not much else I can do. I think they way the Damage done value way to heavily, this needs to reevaluated for GLA and PLD.

Not to mention healers, we could heal tanks and dps and still not get as much xp like the dps, the whole system is just made around dps but they forget tanking and healing is also needed.

I don't know where you get these numbers from but we never recieved 22k xp @ level 30. Gold is Gold, me and my friend both usually get Gold and the same amount of XP.

As a SCH, I've definetly encountered this error... while doing fates of lvl 44-46 I could got as much as having a gold medal which earns me 12k xp where my friends as a LNC and SMN get each others respectively around 20k each. Plus, off all the healers that are grinding from Fates, they become way more retarded when playing in a dungeon group...

So my guess here is this:

party up, you get gold, everyone's gold is the same amount of exp

mobs tagged by your party gives every party member exp when it dies.

mobs tagged by other parties or solo players only give exp if you do ~30% dmg to them. I do not know, but suspect based on what you are mentioning, is that this exp is for the individual only maybe? thus when most people run around trying to get tags, those with good dps (specially AOE) can do enough dmg to get exp and obtain a higher amount of exp then others who are not dpsing

Best way to FATE no matter the class is in a party. Everyone get full credit. so, go find a grinding fate party and be happy.

The level of the fate compared to your level impacts the amount you get as well. If you're below the level of the fate you wont get the max reward from it, instead you'll get the max for your level.

Also the 50% bonus xp for playing a class below your main effects the amount received as well.
