Technical issues killing an otherwise AVERAGE game...Amazing? wtf

I don't get how most of you feel this game is so amazing that the server issues are merely a road bump to an amazing experience. Firstly, I'm not quitting...yet, but a lot of my friends are slowly vanishing and I will eventually follow.

How, in any way, is this game revolutionary?

    1. 2 1/2 second Global cooldown makes for incredibly boring gameplay.

    2. Most classes just spam two moves. It's incredibly scripted. They have more, but its obvious which moves do the most damage, and are critical.

    3. Fates give too much XP, and are far from imaginative, just spawn a bunch of otherwise regular mobs, woo!

    4. Dungeons have no personality, bosses are stupid easy.

    5. All characters look almost exactly the same, as does armor styles.

    6. Lack of limit breaks ala FF XI. Wooo, one character gets one overdrive once a dungeon. Whatever happened to cross party skillchains? You know, teamwork?

    7. Barely any gear in dungeons, lets fight our way to that chest for a hi-potion (if you're lucky)

    8. Annoying quest structure, run here, run there, teleport here, back there, teleport here, back there, etc etc

    9. Just too easy in general. Ridiculous easy. It better get at least 2x harder by end game.

So what am I missing? Played Wow, GW2, lotro, EQ 1+2, and I fail to see anything GREAT about this game. It's an average game that stands out because of the developer, which almost went bankrupt from bad decisions.

    Durzo-

I'm kind of with you on this. What I hear people raving about is the idea that you can train all classes and jobs to a single character. I've always enjoyed developing alts, so for me, "meh".

But yeah, I've only played to lvl 16 conjuror because of the log-in issues, but basically in a group I'm spamming single-target heals just like my cleric in EQ1.

The idea behind the game being Final Fantasy, perhaps the name is over hyped that playing the series for almost 15 years something as revolutionary as being able to play their lore online, and share the experience with other people is what makes it unique. The idea of class changing like Tactics just makes it brilliant. It's one of those games where you can over compensate for the lack of something, Too many dps and no tank? No problem! Job changed.

Also you're expecting way too much from it's initial release. They've focused more on quest and storyline content rather than gear. They've added dye's and such to change the way you look. Sure there are alot of questionable means to things but in the long run and with feedback they would sort it out. It's just a matter of time.

Nothing is going to change about that 2 and a half second cooldown. That ruins the game from the outset for me.

If the game is that boring and average to you, then what should it matter what other people are saying about the server issues?

Just seems fair so no class just dominates when PVP content comes out.

    1. Your statements do not have anything to do with Technical Support
    2. If you do not like the game, just quit peacefully instead of ranting.

It's an entertainment medium. Some people will think it's amazing, some people will think it's horrible. I personally do not think think it's a great game because it does what I want it to (when I play). It captures my attention and entertains the crap out of me. Which is actually pretty surprising because I'm a D2 grind freak and usually dont give other games a chance because I'm so suited to that style of play.

Im with you on the server issues, but everyone's gonna have a different opinion on this game and they're all going to be right when you think about it.

Okay. Let me help you out here. You dont' like it. Then simply don't play it. Because hey, you can always go back to that wonderful kiddie game WoW where there is no skill that needs to be involved and they hand out high end gear like pieces of chocolate to everyone. Enjoy. Now gtf off the technical support forums.

    1. Agree.

    2. Agree.

    3. No... Not only fate. To much EXP in general. However without it, it would be even more boring because you would realize 99% of the quests are stupid.

    4. Agreed.

    5. No... There is some diversity in later levels, although yes... The features in the character selector are very similar.

    6. Agreed. Limit breaks, summons, and the whole fight mechanism were what made FF. This game has no battle mechanisms it's pure button tapping.

    7. No... Not only no gear in dungeons. Useless items in general. Items can't reasonably be used, sold, or collected. There are many different types of items, 99% of them useless. Fishing is useless. Killing monsters to get items is useless, etc. Items are not useable, eatable, throwable, sellable, etc. etc. There are some exceptions such as using items for crafting, but meh. You could also buy the items from an NPC. In some cases where you need to search for the item it would be very frustrating.

    8. No... Not only annoying. Stupid. Pick up things 2 feet away on the ground. Deposit these things 2 feet away. 99% of the quests are NOT quests by the dictionary definition. The quests in FF14 take control of the player, rather than the player embarking on a journey, a QUEST, for a specific purpose such as to discover knowledge or to gather a new weapon, skill, or power. There is no point to the quests in FF14 except to gain EXP and level, which itself has no point either except to discover the main story line (which in addition to some other things is a good thing).

    9. Agreed. Way too easy. It needs a variety of gameplay styles from the beginning.

Agreed. It's an average game with SOME above average elements. If they listen to feedback, they CAN improve it. They SHOULD improve it. They COULD improve it.

Also it should NOT cost money. They had FFXI already. Why not just improve on that? Now that they have this, they should improve on this. It is a HUGE undertaking to build a game of this scope and caliber. They are ALMOST there, which is a lot farther than many MMO's have gotten.
