    Preemptive Bug Report

The following is a preemptive bug report for the next few weeks.

After the new servers are installed on Wednesday, players will be able to create new characters on these servers, but the number of concurrent connections for existing customers will not be increased. Some individuals will transfer to these new servers. However, for all players who managed to create a character and level that character up, they will remain on their existing, overpopulated server. As a result, the login issues that currently plague the game will continue. In order to resolve this, SE will need to issue a free transfer for a limited number of characters from overpopulated servers to the new servers.

After reworking the population on each server, the game will become stable. At this point, SE will reopen sales of the digital copy of the game, and the servers will once more become overpopulated. This error will persist as SE attempts to acquire still more servers, having not anticipated the continued interest in their game.

One solution is to order more servers than are needed right now in anticipation of these problems. Another solution is to allow individuals to "pre-order" the game through SE's store, allowing customers to demonstrate their interest in purchasing the game when it becomes available. If SE can do this, then they can gauge the number of customers that will join after digital sales reopen and purchase an appropriate number of servers (with a generous margin for "unexpected" purchases).

Additionally, SE will need to expand the capabilities of the existing servers. This will relieve the burden on these servers without requiring individuals to transfer to the new servers. Additionally, this approach will allow for the restoration of character creation on existing servers. If SE relies solely on characters transfers without expanding the capacity of the existing servers, then new players will be unable to play on the same servers as their friends, which will not sit well with the community.

This post is simply an attempt to request that SE take a proactive approach and begin to resolve these errors before they occur. Please comment/bump to bring this to SE's attention.

You mean...do what they should've done prior to the game going live? Good luck.
