lets talk goblins!

first off...i miss being able to make a goblin blow itself up. fighting them was probably one of the more fun and entertaining thing to do in parties. not to mention that more people got one shotted by them than any other mob...mostly since that's all people fought.

which brings me to my next point....how did they become so likable and at what point did they seem like viable neutral NPCs....? cause they are pretty awesome if you think about it.

seriously though I do miss the gobbie bombs not sure if we can still stun their bombs in this version of game, they are also in pretty much every FF game ever made in one form or another, so they are just a Icon for this game just like the Moogle/Tonberries/chocobo and many others.

As for their nature, goblins have always been great tinkerers and traders, but no primal seems to have taken hold of them and so they remain a regular ol' tribe. I'm still holding out for a Goblin King, though. Were Moogle King and Tonberry King not great additions to Eorzea? After all, Goblins seem to just be the anti-moogle, so far. I particularly enjoyed fighting alongside them at the Longstop. I like them better this way, really.

I really hope for a neat Goblin side-story, especially one that focuses on the Great Goblin Pilgrimage that happens every 100 years. Where do they go and why.

Has there been any speculation on whether they might be distantly related to kobolds?

I remember thinking when I first saw kobolds in 1.0 that they were XIV's version of XI's goblins, but then I found out that goblins were in there too. Same thing with Amalj'aa and Mamool Ja.

They both have long ears and wear face-covering masks, and the kobolds are miners like XI's moblins were. And many people think "kobold" and "goblin" come from the same word, in the real world.

I'm gonna go with the Gobbiebag quests and Moblin Mazes in XI. They were terribly endearing even then, and proved that an entire race/species wasn't necessarily "evil".
