    Job/Armory system speculation

When I read the letter from the producer where Yoshida hinted at the new job system I started wondering what it'd be. Before that announcement I thought we'd be getting a simple advancement or specialization jobs for our current armory system; however the way he announced the job system made me think otherwise.

Yoshida mentions the job system seperate from the armory system so here is the theory I came up with to make sense of it. They're simply going to add a job system in place of physical levels. Our jobs will be how they implement the traditional classes (it is a job system and traditional Final Fantasy classes are almost always as far as I know called jobs). This way they can get rid of physical levels yet still keep a little bit of complexity to the leveling system. In FFXI you could level up a job and then the weapon and magic skills within that job. In this system it seems we'll have a kind of job system (that'll get job abilities, traits, and maybe the two hours they mentioned they are working on) and the armory system to replace weapon and magic skills. Every job will be capable of using any armory class to a varying degree of profession. Maybe a white mage learns cure spells from armory classes at lower ranks or uses less mp or something.

It's just a theory I came up with while waiting, tell me what theories you people have and if you like mine~

I'll be pretty disappointed if they come up with some "halfway there"-change and decide to keep all the current classes. I've lvled MAR PUG LNC CON & THM and there's literally no difference between them. Simple balance tweaks can't fix the fundamental flaw of all classes having the same feeling in them.

I agree, also when they change the system they should wipe everyone's level back to zero. To help people learn how the new classes work.

I'm pretty sure they already said they won't do a wipe that takes players back to rank 1. I also posted that idea with the fact that they're going to tweak the armory system abilities a lot.

Yeah I know they won't, but I think they should do it.

I'm not sure everyone would like to see their time spent become smoke..

pug feels different to me, maybe its your style of play.

I think jobs may end up taking over for stat placement, and have overall special effects/traits

a reset would be a very bad idea. though people didnt pay monthly, this is not really a beta, people bought hard copies of the game, and were told it was all official.

I think they will add specialisations onto the pre-existing classes, myself. And the job system will be an official recognition of your specialisation.

Yoshi-p already stated in an interview he was considering two paths: to rename the old classes or to make the traditional jobs into advanced jobs. Pretty sure that's what the new system is. I'm hoping for something similar to FFT.

He didn't say he would rename classes! LOL.

He said he would make the classic jobs specialisations within the wider FFXIV class parameters or he would make them advanced classes (like you said).
