What he doesnt understand is that he does not have legal rights to the name in the game. As soon as you input a name into an online video game under a specific licensing you lose all privileges and rights to the name unless you can show via court that the specific name in the game is directly attached to your social security.

In other words, by law the name is not your name and square enix can do what they want with it.

I'm pretty sure that isn't true. Over the years several people in film have taken action to have their names removed from production credits, if not in the current version then in future prints.

MMO's are patched and updated, content is changed regularly, so it stands to reason this could be done.

I changed my last name, which is VERY specific and not common at all (i.e. everyone else who has this last name I am related to). The word I changed it to is a common last name.

Well that's upsetting. I wonder why they wouldn't let that go through.
