Me just want to play........I reckon (like you said) the main reason everyone is upset is because we just want to play.

    Indeed.
Like others...I'd just like to play.
Of course I'm not flippin my **** because I can't. (besides I still have PSO2 haha)
It is annoying to see 1017,2002 or the infamous "Unable to update NA/EU" haha
And provided they stay with their word and extended the free time...I'm personally fine...except for $30 for the game...i didn't really lose anything...so long as I get my 30 days free trial with limited problems....I'm good.

Really that only thing I've lost if anything was time trying to get into game but that can be said for ANY game someone plays so that was time I decided to waste lol

Yes I'm a little disappointed this wasn't handled during beta but at the same time...nothing I....or anyone here can "directly" do.
Sadly its just a waiting game...

I'll give them the shadow of a doubt and see that they do and hopefully...the maint for tomorrow fix this issue....

According to one of my friends...a mutual friend of ours...broke their disk because they couldn't play...and i find that sad...as...you pretty much threw away your money (whether he did normal or collector's idk)

Also just for nostalgia and lil comic relief...

I have PSo2 as well, fun game, took me a long time to figure out what a taco was.
I'm also facing the unable to find NA/EU error so I'm out for a while, but I'm also angry, just patient, or at least I hope so.

I remember when I first got the game, I got in on my first try, never could I have imagined that there would suddenly be 200,000 more people trying to connect the next day (I got the game 1 hour before release, pre ordering like a boss)

Square Enix is far from broke. They did loose something along the lines of 100 mil on FFXIV 1.0. And I'm positive that the investors are having a good old fashioned come-apart about them spending money. Investors are funny that way. But you have to remember that final fantasy is not their only franchise. This is the same Square Enix that released the Tomb Raider reboot earlier this year they made a killing on that game alone. And if they can make a popping noise as they pull their collective heads out of their collective asses they stand to make an even bigger profit by addressing the issues with this game and not alienating the North American and European crowds. I would be willing to give them more time to fix issues if it were anything other than population issues they were having. But considering that this game is a masterpiece that is unplayable due to nothing more than the ineptitude if their server architecture I am not willing to wait for weeks.

As with many posters/players here. I just want to play

I work 365 days a year, I don't get a day off. I might have a couple hours to mess around on a games, maybe twice a week.

So, I get 4 hours a week to play, and when I find a game I am interested in, from a series I like... It is very disheartening to sit down, boot up the computer, only to find out I cannot log in, and there is no estimate of when the particular issues will be adressed, no forum posts from community managers or employees...nothing. As a player I feel very in the dark and uncertain about a game I should love. This does not bode well for companies, especially considering that the first release of FF14 was so horrible, the entire team was removed and the game had to be rebuilt.

Get with the program guys, FF14 (original version) was a big enough fiasco and failure, don't do yourselves further damage by not backing and making sure your product works.

I use a frisby rapid fire controller for 1017. I found out about this godly controller when a ls member back in ffxi said he used it to skill up enhancing magic. But now i'm getting hit with a lot of NA/EU servers cant be update.

So here's what it really boils down to...

The game itself is great, so far I have yet to see any major posts from anywhere saying that the issue is the game's awful. There are some little issues here and there, but over-all Yoshida's given us probably the best installment of a Final Fantasy game that's come along in a long, long while. Are there idiosyncrasies and technical issues that need to be worked out with the content of the game? Yes, but for the most part the content has really good polish.

This leads us to the real issue that is pissing everyone off... the game is so good that everyone wants to play it, far in excess of what SE had originally planned for. Now whether or not they should have or could have planned better is moot at this point. The time for that has come and gone and we're stuck in the mess we're in currently. This is where consumerism puts on its ugly face.

The issue is that as consumers we realize when a product is bad, if we buy it and try it and it's awful... generally we move on with little more than a huff and "I'm never buying that again." Bad products, themselves, generally don't a failed business make. Now service... service on the other hand is HUGE. As consumers we've come to expect a lot from the people providing those services to us, most typically courtesy, sincerity, promptness and to a lesser extent effective problem resolution. You can get away with not fulfilling the fourth if you've managed to fulfill the first three.

Think of the last time you went out to a restaurant. Let's say you went out and the food was alright, but the service was -outstanding-. Your cup was always full, any issues with the food were addressed promptly though maybe they still messed up on one little thing. For most people, they'd not only tip well but probably come back to try something else and see if they could get something better.

Now imagine you go out to a restaurant and the food is absolutely stellar, the kind of food you could eat until you burst, but the service was nearly non-existent. It takes an hour to even put in your order, drinks sit empty while you're sitting there thirsty and food doesn't come out for an age. But the food is awesome and amazing... do you tip and go back? Probably not. Most likely you leave a menial tip if any at all and swear never to go back. I had the same sort of thing happen to one of my favorite places to eat... food and service was awesome, then the server we usually got left, they hired new people and the service went to hell even though the food was still great. Haven't been back there since.

We're a service-minded people. We don't care so much if a product is broken or flawed if someone is willing to communicate with us and help get things sorted. Unfortunately SE has produced an amazing product but maintained their poor service methods. Personally, I'm patient and will keep with it until either things break monumentally or things get fixed. But most people wouldn't eat even the finest food if it was served on dirty plates by a wait staff that seems to ignore the customers.
