    Using a controller

I play on PC but use a PS3 controller because I find the keyboard/mouse movement to be extremely wonky when it comes to moving and using skills at the same time. The game just plays smoother with a controller.

My problem is the cross bar doesn't have as much room as the keyboard for skills, so I'm worried I will run out of space for all of my PUG/Monk skills and you don't really have time to change pages mid-battle.

Any high-level DPSers out there use a controller and do you find it works out ok?

mouse+keyboard = precision. get a multi function mouse with programmable buttons and you'll be able to use abilities and move in ways that you simply can't do with a controller. this is not opinion, it's fact.

You don't need precision in a tab target game. For FPSes or games like Tera that are skill-based, a mouse beats a controller every time.

But in this there's nothing you need to be "precise" for.

Also, while it's true I don't have a multi-function mouse, I have no plans on paying $70 for one especially when a controller is working just fine. I can move and turn the camera however I please while I'm using my skills. I'm just worried about the smaller number of skills I can have equipped at one time.

as a ps3 player, i give you two advices: get a keyboard for talking, only for that (i use the pad integrated one, is pretty easy to attach and use), and macro everything. As a bard, my attack and buff macros take only 3 buttons. You can macro your monk routines, the ones most used. And the buffs. You'll see.

Btw mouse + keyboard gives indeed more precision, but mostly is a matter of pratice. I can do perfect endgame runs and primals (ifrit actually) w/o deaths and such with my pad °.°/

    Controller is just fine atm.

My controller setup allows macro swaps with the tap or press+button setup. If you're a dps, you'd want to put your main stuff on 1 and your off stuff on the other like cross class stuff and play like you would play street fighter or dead or alive or some other fighting game or just remember the buttons. The GCD is long enough for you to do a quick tap, look for the skills, reconsider, then execute.

Another option is grouping and putting your non gcd on 1 macro and spam it if they're just there to spam and even pair things that can be paired.

    I got PGL to 15 to unlock bard and found that you can macro 4 attacks together and then just spam 1 all day;

    /ac "Haymaker" <t>
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "True Strike" <t>
    /ac "Bootshine" <t>

there is another thread on here that says that you lose DPS when you do this. not sure if it's 100% true or not.

You lose DPS when you put a "/wait 2.5" in there which actually ends up making you wait 3 seconds since the macros round the numbers up or down. What that macro will do is just fire off either the furthest attack in that chain that's available or haymaker if it's up. I've been doing it on my monk and it's really much more convenient than having all the buttons on the hotbar.

Fixed it for you. If you have Bootshine or Dragonkick in your macro it might mess up your stance which will lower your DPS by alot.
