Ways to make Alchemy Profitable?

I was just wondering, what is the best way to make profitable?
I've been leveling it up and currently at 46, but its been eating up all my gil and not giving much in return. I started at 150k now i'm down to 20k. I have made some back but it goes back into buying ingredients/HQ ingredients .
So i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

stop buying hq materials if its too expensive, you could search the markets on your server to see which medicines or whatnot you can make will sell either often or for high prices, then try to find cheaper ways to get the materials to make those medicines, gathering them yourself, getting free company members or linkshell members to donate materials.

You may have to balance making lower level things that sell for enough profit to fuel the crafting of higher level stuff to level off of.

It's also pretty normal you need to infest in a craft before it gets profitable, so be patient and just look good what sells and what not. Can assume people start using potions more when endgame comes closer.
