AFKers are not the problem

I understand why people are mad about people going AFK but that really isn't the issue, it's a side effect of the real issue which is the servers cannot handle enough characters logged in.

Everyone that gets mad about people staying logged in try considering this hypothetical situation. What if 100% of the people that were logged in were actively playing the game (I don't mean auto-run in a corner or whatever else one might do to stay logged in but actually at their keyboard/controller playing) and then you still couldn't log in because it was full? Would you get the picture then that the issue is the servers are not optimized to allow enough people in and not just point at the people who stay logged in? Let's say that there really are 500 people that are inactive for more than an hour at any given moment, do you really believe less than 500 people are trying to log in right now and having this same issue? Would you start complaining that someone else has been playing for more than 6 hours and they should be kicked to let someone else in? Bottom line is we need to see how this is handled in the maintenance tomorrow. It's probably not going to be perfect but a move in the right direction is progress.

BTW, the # of AFK appears to be way more than 500. Just reboot every 4 hours and let everyone get a chance, stop whining

Yeah let's reboot every 4 hours, when players might be in a dungeon, guildhest, anything, eff them, so everyone gets to play.

You do realize, an auto-kick function would only stop the AFKers for like 5 minutes right? All you would have to do to beat it is auto-run in a corner.

Ill give you 1/2 for thinking like this. Too bad if they add an auto-kick function it would kick people after 30 mins ~ 1 hour of no keys being hit. As in, if you auto run, no keys are being hit.

P.S. I log in at 6-7am and afk till i want to play, it works and i have no complaints. If people REALLY wanted to play, they could do the same.

Too many people expect to come home from work at 3-8 and expect to log right on, do you think this is a game?

honestly, if you want to cry and complain about the people that are going afk there's only one thing to blame. the full blame for people going afk is the fault of se and not being able to handle the amount of players in game. i'm right beside everyone in that i log off at night before bed and fight the stupid login the next day. the majority of people that i know that won't log off started doing it a few days after release because they got tired of fighting for a spot. i don't blame them at all honestly because i'm tired of dealing with hours to log in myself.

You can set up a macro that hits a key very easily. People will do it if the servers continue to be as awful as they are now. You can't even log on to the JP servers anymore without getting 1017 so now that their precious JP players are being inconvenienced they will definitely do something to fix it hopefully.

Ya let's just always reset the servers every x amount of hours to get back to square one each time. Makes so much sense... not!

If you can't get in, try again later or wait till they fix the server problems tomorrow. Typical first world problems individuals.

I find those "AFK people are the problem" threads quite hilarious considering over half the complainers would ironically do the same thing if they were playing right now haha.

If I could get in, I would probably AFK at this point. I've been attempting to play since Friday night with no luck. I was able to play on a JP server for a little bit but it's not my main character.

Since 2003 they already had a system that looked at player activity, not character activity. That wouldnt work.
