Every little bit helps. Booting the AFKers will allow more ppl to log in and actually play the game. If someone's just gonna sit there for 15-20mins and do nothing they should get booted. But more importantly…get rid of the botters, gilfarmers and gilspammers. Getting those parasites off the servers will make plenty of room for real live human beings. Not to mention how good it'd be for the fledgling economy.

AFK implies away from keyboard, not logging back in within 5 minutes of being kicked.

Resetting the servers occasionally would help more than AFK Timers would. Then at least the people who are sleeping or at work would be unable to log back in for the 8-12 hours they're gone for.

As if it were possible to log back in in a mere 5 minutes. 1017 can keep ppl offline for hours…or all day if you're unlucky.

What they are saying is all you would need to do is auto-run in a corner and you won't get kicked. I am personally against an idle timer, they aren't needed if you have the capacity for the amount of users logging in. Yes right now SE don't have that capacity, however they are looking to rectify that, and once they start charging the game will cover the cost of this increased capacity, whilst still covering the development costs and making SE money in the process, the upside of no afk timer is that we can go to the shop for 15 minutes without having to log in again, we can have some food and get straight back to playing.

Also when they increase capacity there will be less afkers because we won't be getting 1017 any more.

Wanting to play isnt selfish, intentionally forcing others not to play when you arent even there (while you sleep for instance) IS selfish.
But hey the lifes of some people revolves around a game, so even if these AFK'ers do get to play, untimately the joke is on them.
I played roughly 2 hours since Friday and I logged out everytime, Im happy, I didnt even bother to try today, I have plenty of alternatives.

Yeah you are right, it's not the problem.

Just like not using condoms is not the problem, HIV is.

First of all, funny enough, your own statement here explains why you wont be affected by an afk timer after they increased capacity, since you will be able to log straight in.
Second, currently an afk timer would have resolved part of the problem, it would reduce the artificial congestions atleast to some part.
But if you really want to get technical, they are within their rights to take disciplinairy actions against the AFK'ers, they probebly wont but they have grounds to suspent an acount for a X period of time because of it.
Btw, autorunning doesnt counter AFK timers, the system CAN tell the player is idle.
