10yalms is very wide. 2/3 of the distance we fly when we do Elusive Jump. Doomspike is strong!
Also, I'm flying solo. Cleared FCOB, had T13 on farm. Nothing else going on in Moogle. I was planning on x-fering to Phoenix or Cerb since February anyway. Joined Coral. Not planning on joining a static until I come back from Holiday, which is a week after Alexander Savage release. Won't be here most of July.
That is strong if that's the case XD better than what it used to be (which is why i never really bothered with it as i was usually too impatient to wait for them to be lined up for me). Good thing by the time i gots to using it, it had secretly improved or so it seems.
Ooo nice. Hopefully Cerberus can provide the team(s) you're looking for :3 Quite a few top players (not entirely sure about people's attitudes though - can get a awful lot of special ones (suppose that's the same for all/most servers) lol) My group have only just started to farm T13 XD although we still wipe a lot ./shrug We're definitely a slow and steady lot as long as we can get content down in time and usually we've been pretty good at that. We're usually following content clearance shortly after the first raid team in our FC (AEON reborn) Sounds like a good plan though - taking a break before expansion. Might do the same simply due to irl stuffs.
But yeah, welcome to Cerberus /welcome motion ^^b Hope you enjoy your stay!
Yea, it is. But that text seems wrong, I'm just trying to think back, if it really was as wide as it is long than it would hit nearly everything in big pulls in KotL and WP hard. I'm pretty sure it doesn't.. I always try to hit as many as possible with DS so it's hard for me to know for sure, will try to test it out later tonight I guess.
Doomspike... Think of it as symmetry. Take this example. You're the blue dot, the yellow is doomspike, the black line is the path of your Doomspike from you.
So let's say you're targetting the mob on the far side, directly opposite you. Your path is going through and directly hitting all mobs, except 2 of them. This would be considered most optimal use of Doomspike as it takes up the largest area of the circle where the mobs are concentrated.
But, let's say we're in the same place still and we're now targetting a mob that's not directly center. Look at the amount of mobs we're hitting now.
That's how Doomspike works. It's a 100% positional AOE and you need to always ensure you're perfectly opposite of the target you're attacking. The size of the AOE is always the same. Your target and your position to your target just plays eye tricks on you and makes it think it's smaller than it really is.
All the best for Cerberus Dervy o/
That's correctI always try to position for figure 1. The thing is, I think the range is longer than the width, I'm pretty sure it used to be anyways. You can stand well outside of enemy AoE by a good distance and connect with DS, I feel pretty familiar with gauging that distance. But the text now says it's as wide as it is long, which doesn't seem to be true in play
Doom Spike is a cleave, of course. I haven't noticed any changes in its hitbox. But "range" refers to how far out you can target something and "radius" refers to how far out from that target an AoE goes. In this case, a line going back to you... or is it a narrow cone? Could never tell, and I survived universal Brayflox myth runs
"Radius" isn't really the correct term if it's not a circle or at least a pie-section (is there truly a better cleave in the game than Over-pie-r? I think not!), but I believe it's for want of a better single word in the language--the other candidates are synonymous with "range", and two words is too much!
If we imagine the rectangle as instead a cross section of a cylinder, then radius is indeed a correct term.
Since it hits flying things, we'll have to assume it really is indeed a cylinder.
Well, there's a reason it has range and radius assignments.. Anyways, here's some messing around, the width of doomspike is not 10 yalms (width = radius?). more like 1 lol

If the radius of RoT is 5y, then each side is 2.5y. Need to be less than half that for it to register on the side
