oh, i do the same typically. its just the fact you are having offGCDs just sit there off cd = wasted dps. if they reduced the cd of these jumps it would only = more wasted dps
i typically am busy racing dps with a ninja friend. sometimes i get greedy and die cuz of it lol

This isn't a problem with the skill itself. Its a situational skill, and all jobs have situational skills. A White Mage shouldn't use Benediction on a target at 90% life for example. Sure a DRG may get punished more for using his situational skills improperly, but they also have more opportunity to use them. You should not be afraid of jumpping, you should just know when to jump.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I died from a ill timed Jump. Titan was a good mentor.

yea, but drg being so low in dps, you have to be burning these to keep your dps in competition. your gonna be jumping 3 times per minute between these skills on average, i wouldnt call that situational or compare it to benediction which is a much less frequently used skill, its just not even close to jumps imo

especially if you are lining up your jumps with BFB or IR, waiting on them has the potential to lose that 30%/ extra crit chance

... which over the course of a 9 minute fight is not a significant dps loss, its 60 potency per missed B4B+Jump, but dieing because you rushed it is. What I think your missing on also that if you do have to wait to jump, then Power Surge is off cooldown very soon anyways. That extra few seconds you waited will pay off with a 50% damage boost. I really think Jump is fine, but that is my own opinion.

Btw, neither IR nor B4B give 30% extra crit chance. Its 10% at best.

Personally i don't like the remove of positionals it will make it feel DRG is another MNK only with jumps now and then. In my opinion if you main DRG you know exactly how to land your HT and ID it makes for example Kraken fun to do because you have to ID the tentical and switch over to the Kraken witch makes the Job feel more active. The only isue i had whas MDef in FCOB but then again if you raid and have a BLM you can ask to get that sweet Apocastasis and you will be just fine granted im still on T12 so i don't know how much damage DRG get in T13. The Jumps feel imo fine at the moment.
