Dragoons: A Rotation Reborn

So uhh as of the last week, and a lot this week, there has been a severe bug going on for me. I don't know if any other DRGs have encountered this, but from time to time when I use an off-GCD ability buff, the game will just eat it. The cooldown will go off, the animation will go off, and absolutely nothing happens.

It bothers the shit out of me and worse of all whenever BFB or Power Surge gets eaten my DPS dies and myself a little inside. Looking for people who have encountered this.

This is an old bug and can happen to any class, but is more noticeable to Dragoons since we have so many oGCD abilities. There are two problems however: 1) There are too many people who either don't spam their oGCD abilities like us, or don't pay attention to whether their buffs actually get applied (you see the animation, but the actual buff icon never applies), and so always say that this never happens. 2) It is very difficult to reproduce as the circumstances of its occurrence are unpredictable, and are due to slight differences in the cast of your oGCD and GCD abilities that occur due to server lag and ability spam. The only way I've found to deal with it is to try avoiding spamming your abilities too much. Let the GCD go about halfway through, then hit the oGCD ability and make sure it has applied before even touching your next regular ability.

My belief is that moving too quickly into a regular ability right after casting an oGCD ability can "interrupt" its application. The reason it is not easily reproducible is because the timing between the trigger of the oGCD and regular ability have to almost overlap each other, which can only occur due to very slight differences in game timing.

Yeah it's only ever happened once to me, and that was the weekend before last when the instance servers were lagging hardcore.

From what I can infer, it's basically:

1. When the player is spamming buttons very hard, and
2. They get lag / pl / server hiccups.

I wonder if it's a similar issue to the DOT timer ticking down as 4..3..2..3..2..1..2..1..0..2..1..0

It also occurs if you have a macro that you spam, occasionally you will get 2 buffs in one oGCD, but just as often one or both buffs are negated as their animations cancel.

Kinda suck!

Hum, I've never had the buffs negated even if I mistakenly/rarely pop 2 of them on the same ogcd. I could see that happening though.

Thanks for that. I guess I'll try to not spam buttons my next attack queue so hard. I did notice it happened when I was moving a lot more than when I was standing around.

The oGCD fizzling bug has happened to me three or four times, all of which were during the first wave of Turn 4 while I was spamming my buttons for Invigorate and HT/RoT super fast and basically simultaneously. I think it definitely has to do with abilities cancelling or overwriting each other thanks to excessive button spamming.

I have a question regarding ilv90 gear. I'm kind of confused on what to actually get. I got a look at the set you recommended on the first post but I'm sort of undecided due to the allagan drops. Some friends have been telling me to get the drg mytho legs because the allagan ones don't drop until turn 5. I have the relic +1, allagan tassets, 1 allagan ring, and the allagan earrings. What do you recommend I should spend my mythos and in what order?

I think this would entirely depend on the progression of your group. Turn 5 has been downed and then nerfed, so it'll be a little easier to progress on. However, if you're in a group that won't be doing turn 5 anytime soon I would recommend working through the pre-turn 5 list, starting with the pieces that give you the highest stat gains based on overall score (while maintaining accuracy).

Your friends are wrong; Allagan Trousers of Maiming drop from Turn 1. Allagan Sollerets of Maiming and Allagan Bracelets of Maiming drop from Turn 5. I would make Wyrm's Mail your next ToM purchase. If you're going the minimal ToM expenditure route, I would get Hero's Belt of maiming after that and call DRG done as far a ToM purchases go.

Yeah, Myth Chest/Belt/Neck are the 3 reliable BIS slots.

And the chest looks badass, especially with the Allagan leggings.
