A little off topic but does anybody know how to focus target an enemy without changing your current target.

I know /focustarget works simply on the target you have selected and I'm not sure you can add any type of target identifier to that command such as <t> or <le> etc..

My goal in this is to focus target Garuda in Garuda EX after every jump without switching my current target.

Marks stay on targets when they jump correct?

So you could always mark Garuda and have this set-up:

    Mark Garuda with Circle

    Then have:
    /Focustarget <circle>

That'll just focus target whoever you marked as circle1, which is garuda

Alternatively, if you set your MT-Tank to #2 (you're always #1) & OT-Tank as #3 in your Party Order, you could have this:

    /assist <2>
    /focustarget <t>
    /assist <3>

That macro will quickly change your target to whoever the MT is targetting, focus target, then re-target whoever your OT is targetting.

    Or, you could have:

    /assist <2>
    /focustarget <t>
    /targetlastenemy

This will Target your OT, Focus Target, then re-target whoever you were targetting last (in this instance, Suprana/Chirada?)]

You could always change the <2> to tanks name instead, if you're always playing with a Static Group, so it would be:

    /assist "Main Tank Name"
    /focustarget <t>
    /targetlastenemy

Made these off the top of my head, so you'll have to test them, but in theory should work. First method seems more reliable to me if Marking lasts throughout jumps. Let me go through the macro list quickly and see if there's something I missed.

EDIT: Just tested the first macro on some trash outside. As long as the marker stays on Garuda when she jumps, that macro WILL work. It's highlighted in bold.

no unfortunately marks do not stay

[EDIT] I was really hoping there was a way to mark by name ie.
    /target 'Garuda' or <Garuda> or <"Garuda">
    /focustarget
    /target <lastenemy>

That's odd, as markers stay on the dead Moogles :O

Uhm, you could try any of the other ones I suggested, mainly:

    /assist "Main Tank Name"
    /focustarget <t>
    /targetlasttarget

    There's also

    /targetenemy (target's nearest enemy)
    /focustarget <t>
    /targetlasttarget

    ?

EDIT: Edited last line of the two macro commands

    See if it works.

Well I tried at least :3

If I had my WAR geared enough for Garuda EX, I'd go and test some macro's. But, something along the lines of the last macro I wrote, along with yours should work regardless of Job. If Garuda is your last target all throughout the fight even right after the jumps, then /focustarget <lasttarget> could also work, if you're MTing, as you're only ever going to be alternating between Garuda and 1 of the twins.

Not sure if this helps you, but markings should persist between "jumps" (Ifrit dashes, Titan geocrush etc). So you can, say, mark Garuda with a square and make:

    /focustarget <square>

Edit: I should really make sure I'm on the latest page before responding, haha.

If you're a clicker, you can just click Garuda's name on enemy list and hit shift+F real quick, or make a button to target last-targeted enemy (/target <lt> OR /target <le>).

I haven't personally tried it myself, but my FC mates told me that they were trying to mark and the marks would disappear whenever garuda/suprana jumped.
