Server Restart?

I am sure SE has thought of this, and there is a reason they have not done it, but just in case.

Is there any way you could restart all the world servers? (One at a time to reduce the log in load) Just boot everyone out of everything. This would remove a big chunk of the afk people causing the servers to be needlessly full in the meantime, while we wait for tomorrows update.

I do not think the servers have actually fully gone down since launch, or at least since Friday. I know there has been "Maintenance", but the servers did not go down for it.

The only kicking of players I have seen is if they either alt/tab and disconnect, or zone and disconnect.

Basically all I have seen is active players being removed from the game, not the afk ones.

They probably don't shut them down because they would be scared they won't come back up lol

You know you make a valid point most mmos have a daily server restart to clear the servers up. I have yet to see square do this maybe it would help.

Just curious, but can I ask which?

Although right now it'd be nice to boot the AFK people, daily restarts sounds like a horrible idea (and if the servers are running properly you shouldn't really need frequent restarts!) FFXI servers would generally run for ages without needing restarts and I imagine SE is probably going for the same plan with FFXIV. Who'd want to be doing some questing/dungeons to be kicked out for a daily maintenance?
