I believe ARR deserves high sevens to low eights, so it's not too far off what I would give it, personally.

But put yourself in the shoes of someone who has had this game a week, plays casually (2 hours or so a night) in NA prime time. Chances are, he will either have not been able to log in, or will have spent over an hour spamming enter to do so. Add on to that the problems in the opening weekend with Duty finder being broken, constant maintenances etc. What score do you expect him to give. Games are typically reviewed at launch. Asking for this one particular game to be given some kind of special allowance for teething issues is disingenuous.

Oh c'mon.. FFXIV is a game you have to grow into. There are so much things. I give a sh... on such reviews because I love this game. I also loved it in 1.x but now I know it's great from the beginning and the Dev Team is working all days to make it even better. As soon as we have chocobo raising, housing, gold saucer.. it will be perfect imo.

Metacritics destroyed 1.x but I don't think ARR will get that bad ratings.

What is more entertaining is that mmorpg.com has given this game a 5.1, when the user score has it the top voted released game at 8.9.

Preface: When i can log into the game i enjoy it, quite abit, probably the most ive enjoyed a MMO in many many years.

...But allow me to play devils advocate here. How do you rate something you cannot play? This is the issue. If you had an app for your phone that force closed on you 10 times a day, youd rate it LOW, cause realistically you cant enjoy it. This is where alot of people are at with FFXIV:ARR... While i dont agree with a score of 0, i can certainly see how some people might come to that conclusion. To blow off these reviews as unimportant is silly, i hope SE doesnt have this additude. Ultimately reviews like this will scare off players. Even if the minority (aka. the people on this forum) dont care how many people end up playing the game, i bet SE do. Sure they can survive on 500k active subscriptions but i bet you they would rather have 1mil.

Less players = Less subscriptions = Less money to employ people = Less people to create new content.

Thats the reality of it.
