Is there even a point to raising level caps?

I repeat, what is the point if it achieves nothing besides adding more grind to the game which players have already shown a disliking for.

I can't think of much other than the message it will send to people that the game isn't over yet.

Shouldn't our "gimpness" be determined by our skill, not our rank.

Due to level correction it is both, but in a perfect world it should be by skill. This question almost goes into the territory of "Why even have a leveling system at all".
In FF14 it's even worse since all our class ranks determine the abilities we can equip. It would appear they both go hand-and-hand.
