What counts most toward FATE rewards?

The reason I ask is... My marauder doing the same FATE at the same time as my other half's arcanist gets almost double the reward that he does. Considering ACN is a DD class surely he is doing more for the FATE than I am? Yet the rewards are pitiful for him.
eg. 5kgil and 250 seals on maruader, 3kgil and 150seals on arcanist. :/
    So... What counts?

I would say the more you do etc etc seems to account for most of the exp, or I thought this to, I noticed this to doing some level/heist to where I ramp up the difficulty and one gives me barely any exp and ribbons and yet doing the same level/heist thing, I get double for some reason, just different objective..

The amount of time you've been there, and killing and whatever objective it is.

just hit like 15 different monsters 1 time, you'll get full exp for doing almost nothing.

if you have an instant cast, long range ability/spell, you literally need to only stand in the middle, hit tab and that ability repeatedly, you'll get full exp for any fate that has multiple monsters to attack

It also depends what your +XP% is at. When I am leveling a new class between 1-10, my bonus XP % stays around +150% due to items I have equip, the FC I'm in, the bonus 50% and al that. Is your friend leveling a second (or third or fourth, etc.) class? if so, he gets an automatic +50%xp

    I hope this helps.

What I do in fates is target those newly spawned mobs (name is in yellow) first hit it (name turns to red) then just run around and wait for people to kill it. Usually by doing this gives me gold and also exp from those mobs even though i only first hit it. I ignore the purple ones because they usually die fast and cant get exp from them so it is just a waste of cooldown

FATEs are entirely based on Enmity gained, so if he is just throwing DoTs around they might not be ticking enough to give him significant hate before the enemies die. If it's a FATE based around killing weaker enemies, it would be better for him to cast Ruin and heal others with Physick. On boss FATEs he should be able to use DoTs since those enemies last much longer.

So for someone who knows alot about this: Yesterday at Behemoth I was in a party for the entire fate healing randoms, party members, and raising. Near the end I ended up with enough hate for Behemoth to seek me out and kill me. I got raised shortly after, but when the fate proceeded to complete I didn't receive any reward, not even bronze. Having trouble deducing an explanation for this other then my death, or perhaps the fact I wasn't using Aero on Behemoth because he's so hard to target unless you're close which gets you killed.

Actually i couldn't have said it better than this post!
The more first target's you claim "Mobs in RED" even if you don't fully kill them but you have claimed them, gives the most rewards. This has been my experience
