The fact that the employees who will be launching the patch living and working in Japan has no bearing on this decision or timing whatsoever.
10 hours is a long time, I wonder if they're doing anything else.
I don't mind the length of time as long as its fixed. It's beyond frustrating.
Maybe they'll raise the current cap on the worlds too. Or at least allow free server transfers for like a week or so.
I think that's 1am here in the UK so it wont affect us how awesomeDDDD ill have a nice lay in bed until servers are back up too!
DDDDD
In most company's the IT departments work on call around the clock. I just can't believe that what time the people in Japan "work" has any bearing on this.
Hah. To those complaining about the time, the new servers are physical objects, meaning a tech has to be onsite to hook them up, and ghost in the appropriate software. While I'm sure a lot of the physical work has been taken care of during the week, The final touches must be completed physically.
The reason for the time is most likely because that is what time the Techs will begin the final work, that 3am finish is most likely when the Techs will be allowed to go to bed.
Has nothing to do with "JP time" or anything silly like preference. How you would you like to set up a server at 3am? Its not much bloody fun. And the more tired you are, the more likely you are to make a mistake. And we know what the entitled Americans will have to say if its not absolute perfection for them.
Lastly, Every weekly maintenance for every MMO I've ever played, has been during MY prime times as an Australian starting work at 10am, finishing at 8pm, knowing that the servers go down the same time i exit my workplace and knowing ill not be able to play at all until the following the night.
'Deal with it' is appropriate. It's what the rest of the world has had to do for years. I'm sure you can find something to occupy your time away from FF14.
Personally, I'll be reading a book.
10 hours, 12 hours, 18 hours, as long as it means things will be fixed or better operating. One night or day isn't going to matter in the long run.

This is hilarious. First everyone complains nothing is being done and now everyone complains that it's being done at the wrong time and for too long a time.
Like guys, shut up. They're trying to fix the issue can we all just shut up and wait.
I accepte erveryone being angry and pissed (myself included) over this launch but complaining about this? That's dumb.
Hopefully this will include an AFK kick and a functioning queue
Face -> Desk. Ever though about the slight possibility that maintenance hours are directly tied to the work hours of the staff doing the maintenance?
