You're getting queues? I'm not even getting to character select. It senses me and immediately slams me with a 1017! This is going on the fourth day now I've been locked out thanks to 1017. I don't remember what queues look like... ;_;They keep putting me in a que and then 1017, this company is a joke. They sure collected the money for the game, but then they want you to jump through a million hoops to get it back. No wonder these jokers keep releasing flops and when then finally get a good one can't support it.......
A botched MMO release is what it is, and let's not pretend this is not a botched release. Failure to foresee and plan for the issues at hand with the now massive wealth of data available regarding similar releases from smooth as silk all the way through to catastrophic epic fail by any company attempting a AAA MMO release at this stage of the game is fairly inexcusable,
We all can, and will continue to air our personal feelings about it with varying degrees of passion and eloquence (or complete lack thereof in some cases). God knows I've got my feelings about it. None of which will change the fact that it happened of course.
I do however continue to scratch my head at SE's seeming unwillingness, or worse yet, inability to implement any interim measures to help alleviate the problems. I can't seem to wrap my head around why a hotfix has yet to be deployed that auto-kicks AFKers at the very least. And let's not even get started on why there is no functional queue system present. Either they don't have systems in place to do so in a timely manner or they simply don't care to. Whatever the reasons, that's the one piece of this fiasco that I continue to find very troubling and irksome.
Oh well, as I stated before (and I actually hate this statement for the most part) it is what is. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest
Have splendid day or evening everyone!
Had they run a longer Open Beta (3 days cmon) they would have seen the extent of the Issue, but they chose to run a short Open Beta, and then proceed with early access and Launch anyway. What you must remember is this is a relaunch, how many chances do you give them. People would have rather waited a little longer knowing the product would be better than to suffer the frustration of tasting the game then get shut out with promises. I think that is more likely what people are truly angry over, you can promise people anything but if you fail to deliver on a constant basis then people become Jaded, lose patience, and leave or flame the company. People play games to relax, they Play MMO's to get away from life for a bit, to get around people they may never have met otherwise, they develop friendships that can move beyond the game so the game becomes important to them. Game companies look at things in dollars and cents, and due to the American Economy now Americans like myself are playing more games, its relatively cheap (especially when going to a movie with a date can cost upwards of 50.00 for one movie and snacks) so it is a good way to just relax with friends, thus the Gaming industry is going strong right now, thus a company needs to concentrate on providing the best service possible and to correct errors quickly. Its how a company chooses to proceed that really tells you about how that company will handle future issues. will they just say sorry sorry sorry we will try to fix it, or will they put their best people on the issue and correct it in a timely fashion. Sadly in many peoples opinion SE has taken the first route, or there is something they are not telling us whatever the reason we are A) at their mercy, they have our money, B)at a point where all we can do is gripe and request a refund. complaining does make people feel better, while defending SE makes others feel value for their purchase and it is not illegal to be either one.
Bit of a pointless post to be honest, "worth" and "cost" are very different.
Would you pay $30+ just to see the opening trailer then?
If you can't wait a few more days especially when they already said they are fixing it In a few days then I don't know what to tell you. I'm one of the most impatient people I've ever met but I really like the game and am willing to let them fix it. And in a different post I made I said the same thing you are about the lack of foresight and everything, but I just am not giving up on a game that I really enjoy and have been waiting for for a very long time just cuz they messed up a bit. Also I'm on ps3 so I don't have many mmo options so that's more incentive for me to wait it out. And like I said I'm confident they will straighten everything else so I will wait. It's been a week. Waiting a few days is over. They should have seen the need for a lot of servers on the release day when the servers where overloaded. It released early in the week so they should have had time to do that.
Also they lock down character creation on most servers, making it incredible hard to play with friends. Took me 3 days just to make a character on Siren server. But this was late at night and then in the morning and the whole next day I couldn't login.
The character I have on my profile is on another server and I got to 16.
Also none of us are saying that you're less worth for paying more or should be less angry. We all paid for a certain amount of days and we have not been able to use it for several of them.
