Like I said before, I've been logging in all over the place without any issues. Though each login has been via the same laptop, so the HID may come into play along with the IP.

i've been using both my office PC and my home PC to play FFXIV, and i never had any security issues. <3 because i r use Security Token~![]()
If you connect from different IP addresses/PCs, worse that can happen will be that you receive a message when you try to login, that your account is temporarily supsended/locked out. You just need to check your email account associated with your account, and reset the password. Then you can play again.
A change in IP address will probably not trigger another lock out because mine changes all the time, and I don't have to reset. Maybe it's determined by some unique PC id. So I guess you should be fine once you've logged on once at the 2nd location.

Iron your full ip wont change only a specific part, infacts its not even a proper IP they scan for its an ISP code which originates a region.
Anywho I block my friends all the damn time but i know his email pw so i just go unlock it and use his char as i please I must have blocked/change pw like 30 times now lol so i think its fine, SE could see its being accessed by same 2 people all time.
Alexia,
There is nothing much to worry about. I have had the same issue when I have logged on from elsewhere (I move around a bit). What happens is when you enter the password, it will say your account is compramised. Follow the link and it will send an email to get a password reset.
After that, it will remember that IP adress for the future. For as long as either you or your sister have access to that email account, there is nothing to worry about

If you live in the same area you will have no issues, if you live in America and you sister lives in England and she logs on 30 minutes after you logged out then they might get suspicious.
I would suggest you familiarize yourself with the user agreement you have agreed to. For your convenience I will copy and paste parts of it.
What SE will do if you do 3.1 I am unsure. Are we aware of any situations where they have enforced 3.1?3. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
In addition to the License Limitations, there are other activities that you are forbidden from doing in connection with the Game (“Prohibited Activities”). In its discretion, SQUARE ENIX may use a variety of methods to deal with violations of this User Agreement and the Prohibited Activities, including, but not limited to, any of the following:
* Issuing a warning;
* Placing a character in a “virtual jail” for a specified period of time;
* Removing or deleting ill-gotten in-game items or currency;
* Temporarily suspending an account;
* Permanently terminating an account;
* Permanently banning your IP address, residential address, or credit card number;
* Asserting a lawsuit for breach of contract, copyright infringement, or other cause of action as may be applicable; and/or
* Seeking injunctive relief in any court or jurisdiction to prevent you from continuing such activity.
In addition, SQUARE ENIX shall be entitled to terminate any FINAL FANTASY XIV Account (immediately and without notice) of any User who (1) was previously suspended or terminated by SQUARE ENIX and who SQUARE ENIX believes (in its sole discretion) re-registered using different registration information in order to circumvent or bypass such suspension or termination, or (2) SQUARE ENIX believes (in its sole discretion, based upon any information available, including registration and account information) that such User is enabling or assisting another User to conduct any Prohibited Activities of any kind.
SQUARE ENIX may update the list of Prohibited Activities at na.finalfantasyxiv.com/support at any time. The current Prohibited Activities are as follows:
3.1 Sharing Account Information. You may not share your account or login information (such as your Square Enix ID and password) with anyone except your legal guardian, your minor child, or SQUARE ENIX. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and login information, even from your friends and family. If you violate this provision, you may unexpectedly lose access to your account to a third party without recourse against SQUARE ENIX. SQUARE ENIX will not be obliged to credit your SQUARE ENIX Account with Crysta or other points or awards, which may have been used by a third party as a result of the violation of this clause.

I'm mostly playing at my place but I also sometimes log to my girlfriend's place and got the block, same happens when I go to my parents and play when they are in bed so yes, it can trigger it. However, it is only a matter of a few minutes to unblock it so it is not really a problem. As said previously, once it's done, there is no need to change everytime (not getting blocked anymore at my GF's)

I live in dorms where each room has a different internet connection, but same ISP. I moved into my friend's room the other day and played from in there and it triggered the suspicious account activity alarm. Silly SE. However, when I went to my university and ran it from there, nothing happened. Silly SE.

thats just SE stating if you share your account info and it is stolen SE has no obligation to help you get it back
