Sorry, written text can loose context, but wasn't meant to be hateful. Just that sometimes we loose our insight to actions / results when we are so focused on an objective. We are all guilty of that at times.
Now this was not stated in your original post so it's very easy for someone to think you are looking for the level grind. I do agree with you that the quest levels are a bit odd since some jobs can kill the mobs required for a quest 5-10 levels lower than those mob.
Lets talk about classic MMO grinding then come back and tell me how long the grinding takes in ARR...
Considered yourself lucky. Back in 1.x, we had to deal with this kind of issues at level 15+. But seriously tho, you better start search for other ways to enjoy your leveling because you have 18 other classes to go. If you are having issues with your first class, I fear for you on the other 18 classes.
With that said, there will be many content patches in the months to follow.

I'm surprised at how quickly the side quests died off after hitting ~43. Dungeons are a huge pain to exp in, and if you're like me and play on a PS3, it's currently impossible to load anything but chocobos and summon pets during higher level FATEs. There were a few side quests at 45 but they barely made a dent. And now story quests jump from 46 to 49, so you have no choice but to go three levels on your own.
There's a quote floating around somewhere, where Yoshida said you can go from 1 to 50 just from questing content.
Which is pretty much impossible, I've had to grind FATEs and dungeons at 37-39, 42-44 and 47-50.
Which is sad. I understand that it being an Asian MMO, Final Fantasy no less, it will and should have grind in it. Not being able to get at least one class to 50 just through questing though will put off a lot players, players that this game will desperately need in the months to come.
Did you already get the Grand Company Quest to do Darkhold?
Did you do your Relic quests already?
At 45 if you're really careful you can attempt to completely finish your class hunting log. It may be too difficult.
Grand Company logs also for seals and progression
Explore and fill out your map, it gives you some EXP and there are some really beautiful places I hadn't seen yet otherwise. I changed a setting in my character settings and when I zoom all the way in it turns 1st person. I explored for a while and took some landscape screenshots and made a little progress in the meantime. Fun to me!
Don't necessarily FATE grind if you don't like the repetition, but while you're exploring if one pops near you just take it for the boost!
It can make you anxious to be on those last few levels and feel like it'll take forever. Just ignore what level you are and have some fun if you can manage to log in!
This game is not new - The thing is SE had 1.23x to build off of, instead they reallocated all of the content. In terms of End-game content, there was the potential to have quite a lot of it, the only thing that counts as end-game right now in the general sense is Castrum Merd, Praetorium, A Relic Reborn quest line and....that's it.
He said there would be so much content to do that you'll still be doing it before the next update, well at this point he must consider fetch quests and the main storyline as "so much content", since when you breakdown the FATE system, they're all the same thing in the long run.
This is a relaunched game, if it was brand new it would be understandable since all new MMORPGs lack End-game content, but this is a game with a precedence already - they could have focused on end-game content given the route of leveling (quest grinding) is the easiest to develop.
Few dungeons(already done in 1.0) and a few fates that you get nothing for besides exp and gil... wait you are 50 you can't get exp anymore. Primals... we already did them in 1.0 they are not new, besides titan. I really thought this game would have more end game considering there are already people level 50.
Also, new game is new, this game was already released.
I can see how this would be true for someone who focuses entirely on the story quests and their hunting log... but not when you include side quests into the equation... :/. There's a lot of them, some popping up on old levels. I just can't help but wonder how people could have trouble unless they're being conservative about what quests they do. Throw in doing FATEs while doing basic question and you should be coming out ahead. Personally I prefer staying conservative so I have stuff for my other classes though.
Also if you're FATE grinding in a crowded area, group up with people. Makes contribution easier to get.
