I'm not "upset", I'm just very "disappointed"

This is not a rage/quit thread, but it is a vent thread. (so sorry in advance)

    Look SE,
I'm not going to quit this game (I have WAY too much time and effort that I have lovingly spent on my character to quit). However, I am extremely disappointed that a holiday weekend and heavy server traffic was not taken into account. The one weekend that I actually get to sit down and play (because I don't have to work) I'm constantly greeted with server error 1017, or EU/NA servers are unable to load.
I would be more upset, but I understand that game launches have their glitches. I first witnessed these types of glitches back when FFXIV first launched. I just thought that the SE team would have more insight on how to put together a MMORPG (I mean, this isn't your first time to the show... There is FFXI).
To conclude, while I am not rage quitting, there are a LOT of players that are/are considering to. Perhaps after a whole week of complaints (because yes, the early launch has been plagued with the same server issues as well), you would want to look into them. I understand that there is a "fix" coming on Wednesday (tho, from what I was reading, is this only for the EU servers?) but this could have come a LOT sooner.

    Sincerely,
Someone who is not "upset", just very "disappointed".

I sincerely hope you are not or never will be in the position to fire anyone yourself.

Whoever made the decision to limit server capacity to this degree (for their 3rd FF mmo mind you) should be fired. They had all the data they needed and all the time in the world to test this, yet they fcked up. In the real world people get fired for screwups of this mangnitude.

Try waiting on customer service to fix your account... Atleast right now you can attempt to play on your character. If I want to play I have to try and start a new one on some server that isn't locked.

Honestly, they need to think back to the launch of FFXIV and remember that a whole development team was fired for releasing XIV as it was...
Perhaps that would light a fire under someone's ass.

Maybe they need to do it again.

This game is round two of a failed project. Companies typically go overboard to make sure a previously botched endeavor succeeds the second time around. Even if it's not super profitable off the bat, they can re-gain their lost credibility by showing how they can pull off a flawless performance when it counts.

This however... Either they handed it off to their accountants and decided to launch on a budget sized layout or they handed it off to a bunch of blockheads that weren't really aware this was supposed to be 'a big deal' of a game. I don't know...

    This. ^

There is no reason on God's green Earth for the server capacity problems during Early Access, as SE had access to the amount of copies pre-sold and should have had capacity in place in advance to support at least that many concurrent connections. For God's sake, they bragged about pre-selling a million plus copies! And then to carry to release, again with sales figures in hand the datacenters should have been ready to handle at least the number of copies sold to that point, plus a padding figure to handle the sales from that point on.

Whoever made the decisions on capacity should be fired, and in practically any other large-scale rollout heads would be rolled out and stuck up on pikes for undercapacity on the scale ARR is experiencing. Entire IT departments and IT department managers have been canned for screwups of this magnitude. Over a million copies pre-sold yet only having the functional capacity online for only about 300k concurrent players? What idiot(s) made that call and why are they still employed?

Agreed. However, suggesting that a whole dev team be fired, like the post up above did, is a bit much.
The people who designed and coded the game itself did a phenomenal job of it.
The people or person responsible for planning such a limited server capacity should be fired. As you say, this problem existed previous to actual launch.
