Receiving quests that are highe rthan your current level

I dont know if this has been brought up already but could it please be changed that the quest givers wouldn't give you quests if you are too low to complete them.

Yesterday (again) my minimap was full of red, locked, finished quest symbols because I was level or 2 too low to actually take them back.

I think if I am high enough to receive the quest and finish it, I should be able to also return it.

I agree with this big time. Trying to level up a second job and taking quests where I can get them, only to be denied when trying to turn them in for the XP. I'd like to know the reasoning for this. If I can't turn it in, don't give it to me.

I think the issue was that people could finish it with a higher level class, then hand it in as a lower level class, and get the same experience. They should let you hand it in, but scale the reward experience if you're not within a certain level range (3 levels below or something).

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have gil. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my fellow Eorzeans time shift to safety, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you." - Crisp Neeson to Bahamut, moments before the end of the Seventh Umbral Era, Nov. 11, 2012

I agree with this .. I have literally 6 quests done before level 20 that I can't hand in... It's really annoying.

This annoyed me as well. I think it only happens if you have already leveled a class above the quest level... but is annoying as heck when trying to level secondaries.

That's a good point but, the sollution would take too much work, still wouldn't be balanced because you'd be able to turn in more quests than you should, and would probably piss people off when they didnt get the amount they though they would.

They should however, just not give you the quest in the first place on the lower level job. They already have that mechanic coded into the game (The red locked exclamation point). So it wouldnt be hard to implement at all and it would make leveling secondary classes so much nicer!

This annoyed me at first after I changed cities/jobs... But it motivated me to play the new class a bit longer than I had intended and now they are both level 26. Lol. I'm sure I'll have the same "problem" for city 3. I just wish the storyline quests were available after the first city... I want to say a couple of them were available, but I'm not sure. I felt like I had far fewer quests than my first class did. But I have no way of knowing unless I start a 2nd character

I think this is a good idea. I screwed up when I first started playing again and went through the story on the wrong class and now that I'm going through and leveling another class on the same toon, I find that I have a TON of quests that are only a couple levels ahead of my current class and I can physically do them, but it won't let me turn them in with that class and like another poster said, it's annoying having to sit on these quests.

My problem is a little reversed, when I finished the level 44 msq the next quest was 46 yet I was able to finish and hand in like 5 lvl 46 quests as a 45.

Bumping this. It makes no sense that the quests work this way. If I'm too low level to turn a quest in, why would the NPC give me the quest in the first place?

It wouldn't bother me so much if we had the ability to choose which quests get displayed on the quest tracker. Why was that feature removed?
