Did the same thing as a healer and never saw a tank. Just a revolving door of DD joining/dropping party.I spent half my playtime today joining the first four dungeons as a tank with the Join Party in Progress option ticked. Most of the time I queued instantly, but more than half the time I was thrown into a dungeon with 2 damage dealers who were either AFK or standing around waiting for a healer to join midway. I did stick around and chat with a couple groups, but not once did a healer join.![]()
Every "party in progress" that I joined was a disaster. I will not click it ever again.
Agreed. Right now joining a party in progress is a huge risk. I think that incentives should be given so people will use that option more often. Maybe have the option on by default, or remove it altogether. WoW's dungeon finder gives bags of goodies for people who queue at random. FFXIV could give EXP bonuses, foodstuffs, extra personal chests or something. I bet a lot more people would start queueing for them this way.
Some sort of kicking system should be implemented too. People who AFK in the middle of a dungeon are horrible.
If there was a piece of loot I was guaranteed to get, I might consider clicking this box. But I still probably wouldn't. Sometimes loot just isn't worth a fail party. In WoW you can carry a bad tank through a 5 man dungeon. You can't do that in this game. People who are bad at games are always a 100% wipe fest in this game. It is brutally punishing for people who can't take what they learned in the easy dungeons and apply it. But it shows you how many people are just plain stupid. I never thought trunning out of a red box would determine someones intelligence, I just assumed all human beings had this ability.
Although I don't use the Join Party In Progress feature, I fully understand where you are coming from. In my opinion, they should only match up when a full party has been assembled, and to also show how much time is remaining, and also how many bosses are still up. That way, as a tank/healer, for example 10mins remaining, 2 bosses remaining, you will know that you will have to rush beyond your measure in hopes of finishing the 2 bosses or just cancel and take the feature off. I personally won't use the in progress feature, but I 100% understand and agree with your frustration to it. Let us hope that they alter it in a way that benefits everyone, and matches a full party before throwing just 1 person in when 2 are missing.
Notwithstanding that part of a tank's role in a PUG is to tank his party as well as the mobs, generally I find that joining party in progress and rescuing it allows me to show them what what they can achieve with a little leadership, skill and compassion from the tank.
But then, I am a pretty nice person generally.
