Reason behind so many 1017 errors.

People are going afk in the inns and not logging out. That's why, even at odd hours, you'll get this message. Prior to this week, I was able to get off work at 8am and log in with no problems.

Now, I see even people on my friends list as AFK in the inns during times they never play. This is incredibly selfish and there should be a hotfix/maintenance to auto-log out people that are AFK for more than 20 minutes.


Edit: I tried this myself, before posting, but forgot to include it. Just to be sure, I tried doing the same before going to bed. 7 hours later and I was still logged in and still in the inn in Ul'Dah.

Not even an hour. AFKing is for things like bathroom breaks and giving babies a bottle and shit like that, NOT to hog open spaces. Like I said, I admitted to trying it out before posting, just so I had facts to back up my statement. I work overnights, so seriously... who the hell is playing at 5am est to 9am est? There cannot be that many basement dwelling parent-leechers per server.

Actually the lobby system probably does have to do with AFK people. The servers are full so people are spam-logging in for the 1/500 chance they'll get in.

While this is not a permanent solution, if they alleviate the AFKing all night thing, people would have an easier time logging in and the lobby server would be less stressed.

I know on ultros about half the players are afk in towns, as i walk around i see afk people can i blame them? No not when it can take hours to get on the server. I spam the login server today from 330cst to 415cst while watching tv before i got in and now i need a break will i logout? No because i will not get in again tonight. So you can hate all you like but its the only way to play due to SE limited servers. Love the game but i hate the servers and it sucks all this bad word of mouth will poison tte game. Heres hopeing people try it again at the first xpac
